Emily felt numb. Her body was frozen and stiff but her mind stirred. Her once mushed and melted brain finally awoke, allowing the girl to panic. Where am I? How did I get here? Who brought me here? What's going on? Thoughts flew through her mind. Her body began to awken as well, and soon the tingling sensation of crawling ants covered her body. At a vunerable state, she was frightened. For the first time in her life she was frightened. As her stormy gray eyes fluttered open, she took in her surroundings. She was crouched in a corner of a dark room.

Her back was leaning against a cold, hard brick wall. There were no windows and no lights. There was one visible door, which caught Emily's eye. As soon as she caught sight of the door, she bolted towards it, only to be stopped by a chain around her wrists, holding her to the wall. Damn it! Emily thought. She was bolted to the wall. What am I going to do? Theres no food, no water. She was dumbfounded. She had only ever read about kidnappings, but those were fictional. She had no plan whatsoever. So she did the only thing she could do, she sat still, letting her mind travel and explore all of the what-ifs.

It seemed like hours. Hell maybe even a day or two. Emily had been trapped in her corner in the dark room for too long. At this time, which was unknown to her, she was extermely hungry, cold, and in serious need of a bathroom.

Her stomach grumbled for the thirteenth time that she was there. After attempting to clutch her aching belly and failing due to the restraints, she closed her eyes and sighed. There was no getting out. She was stuck there and would probably die sooner or later, seeing as she was not eating, drinking, sleeping, and under a heavy amount of stress.

Emily had given up. She knew deep inside that praying to God to have her family find her would be of no use. She recalled a waitress from an old diner. She had given Emily some advice after noticing that she was crying over a topic that Emily could no longer remember.

"We believe in God when we are at our weakest point. A man at the top of the world who has everything he could ever desire has no need for a higher power, but a man with nothing, living on the streets does. We as humans choose the easier way and believe in an almighty source that will help us when we need it. Never put yourself in the position where you give up on yourself and ask for help from a power that you do not know as existent. Make wise choices, believe in yourself and your destiny will lay in your own hands. Have a little faith, child."

The waitress was an atheist by no doubt, where as Emily was raised Christian. She had never been very religious herself, but felt guilty when she found herself agreeing with the woman's words.

Emily smiled, recalling the memory of sipping hot cocoa in the diner, listening to the aged waitress as rain poured down outside. Little things made Emily happy. On remembering the memory, she found herself warm up a little.

The door swung open, banging against the hard, brick wall. Emily's eyes opened immediately. She had finally been able to get some sleep, and was soon awakened by her kidnapper opening the door.
