Chapter Eight: I dont want to push her away

Rachels POV
"Did you find out why she had them?" Eddie asked as i came back to the office from talking to Lexi " No, i didn't ask her" I said as Eddie sat down on the sofa " Your going to have to talk to her, shes 16 and shouldn't  be doing drugs Rachel" Eddie said " Yes I'm aware of that but she seems a lot happier than before and I'm scared that ill push her away" i said, when Steven dropped of Lexi's things me and saffy put it in lexi's room and organised it for her however, when we were sorting it we found a small box which was filled with different pills and white powder which I'm sure was cocaine. " Rachel, i think she needs our help , why else would she have that much drugs? I mean when my sister was into it even she didn't have that much unless she was going through a bad patch" Eddie said " She seems fine to me , i messaged Steven about it and he said she use to take drugs but him and Emma got her off them, and I highly doubt that shes using again" I said as Eddie sighed " Your going to have to talk to her sooner or later though, i might sound crazy saying this but don't you think that Max and Lexi seemed a bit too close this morning? " Eddie said " Yeah i noticed that too, i was planning on going to talk to Max today about that , shes coming home tonight but shes at work at that 24 hour diner from 8 till 2in the morning " i said as i started putting the paperwork away on my desk " what? The one next to that stripclub? And from 8 till 2?" Eddie asked "There isn't is there?" I asked confused " oh yeah, and that diner is known for taking the waitresses and hiring them as dancers, i would keep an eye out" Eddie said before he stood up " yeah i will" i said before Eddie headed to his Maths lesson he was due to teach.

Whilst sorting through some of my files i got an email from Mr Clarkson about Lexi's grades,
  Hello, just emailing you to let you know that Lexi walked out of registration after i gave her the mock results. I have attached a copy for you , i would suggest that lexi attends some after school sessions just to get her grades up. Another thing i had an email from Steph and Lexi is not in French.

I clicked on the attachment and saw that Lexi had failed every single exam and now she thinks its a good idea to skip. I was furious, i thought that once she had a break she would be fine but no she has to go breaking rules again. I grabbed my keys and keycard and headed to find Lexi , i knew she wouldn't have left school grounds because she didn't have anywhere to go. I walked the school three times and couldn't find her so the next best thing, even though i hated it was to see Max, he could know where she is. After a short five minute walk i saw Lexi through the glass of Max's office door.

" there you are, Ive had emails about you not being in lesson" i said as i came i to the office only to find an upset Lexi " Lexi's upset with her grades, she just came to talk to me about them" Max said " Sorry" Lexi mumbled as she quickly turned a sheet of paper over which im guessing was her grades. " Mr clarkson sent me your grades, i know them and i understand that there not the best but if we give it time your grades will eventually start going back up because your back in full time school now" i said as i crouched down to Lexi and out my hand in her knee " Im just dumb mam, i cant do anything . I thought i did really well on the exams" Lexi said as Max passed her another tissue " Hey listen, like i said to you before your not dumb you just need a little extra support which is totally fine " Max said taking Lexi's hand, It was strange hearing him being kind to a student, usually he is shouting and humiliating them, maybe eddie was right about these two being too close " Right why don't you go and freshen yourself up and get yourself to Miss Haydocks lesson while i have a chat with Mr Tyler " i said as i stood up properly now " okay" Lexi said as she gave Max a worried look. I waited till Lexi had left " Can i remind you that having any relationship with a student is abusing your trust as a teacher" i said as Max just smiled " Listen Rachel , i only know Lexi through Lacey and she trusts me. I cant help it if she has a better trust with me rather than her own mother" max said whilst smirking " How dare you, me and my daughters relationship is fine, now if i find that there is any misconduct going on i will not hesitate to report you to the Police and the LEA" i said before storming out with my fists balled, i hated that man ever since he got here he has been trying to take control of every single thing. Once i got back to my office    I calmed myself down and phoned Luke, i had to phone his everyday to make sure that he was awake before 11 because he started work at 12.
