Prologue

Zuko

I and Katara continue on our trip to the Fire Nation. I imply my distress that Aang will lose against Ozai. Although Katara is also worried, she assures me that Aang is going to come back.

At the palace, Azula's coronation begins "By the decree of Phoenix King Ozai, I now crown you Fire Lord..."

Azula shrieked  "What are you waiting for? Do it!" but is interrupted by the arrival of me and Katara on Appa.

I shouted out from Appa's back "Sorry, but you are not going to be Fire Lord today."  I said the next line jumping from Appa.

Azula did a crazy laugh and said alone with that laugh  "You are hilarious."

Feeling a knowledgeable individual beside me I recognized that voice that brings infinite joy to my heart and sends me to the perfect land of happiness and boundless passion says
"You're going down."

Then the one who put was going to put the crown on her and then she gestures for him to stop, Azula said "Wait. Do you want to be Fire Lord? Fine. Let's settle this. Just you and me, brother.  The showdown that was always meant to be Agni Kai! "

I was glaring at my sister and announced, "You're on."  I felt eyes looking at me from my side with worry.

Similarly, my insane sister had the most craziness smile, then I heard my crush say in such worry. "What are you doing? She's playing you. She knows that she can't take us both, so she's trying to separate us."

But I already know this and said to comfort her, by saying "I know, but I can take her this time." Katara instantly said still with worry "You even admitted to your uncle that you would need help to face Azula."

I said right back "There's something off about her I can't explain it, but she's slipping. And this way, no one else has to get hurt." I saw her nod in agreement, but I knew she didn't mean it.

I and Azula took our respective positions on each side of the coronation square. As Katara looked from the sidelines, Azula sarcastically apologized "I'm sorry it has to end this way."

But I coldly told her, "No, you're not."

And the duel began. With both of our firebending dramatically enhanced by the comet, I and Azula fired enormous fire blasts, with me, despite my expertise with only red and orange flames, equally rivaling Azula's repeated attacks with blue fire due to how much my firebending had greatly improved and able to unleash my assaults on my sister. As Azula's sanity continued to crumble, she became easily exhausted, her attacks became less effective and she started to become overwhelmed by my greatly increased prowess in firebending, even to the point of visibly being scared.

Azula attempted to encircle me, increasing her mobility by propulsion with fire jets, while I attempted in vain to hit her. However, I unleashed a fiery spin kick that managed to knock her down. Taunting her "No lightning today? What's the matter? Afraid I'll redirect it?"

Then she shouted out defensively, "I'll show you lightning!" I meanwhile, prepared to execute my redirection technique, realizing that success could determine my victory.

However, noticing she noticed Katara standing behind her brother, Azula changed her plans at the last minute and directed the lightning bolt at the unprepared and shocked Katara instead, who watched frozen in horror as the attack approached. I noticed what Azula was doing and jumped into the lightning's path. Shouting "No!" Failing to avoid the lightning around my heart, I absorbed the full force of the blast and although I was successful enough in redirecting the lightning's energy to prevent mortal injury, the intense energy left me critically wounded and paralyzed, unable to fight.
