Anakin and Luke Skywalker were twins born to Shmi Skywalker and at age nine, taken from Tatooine to become Jedi.
However, with the tragic loss of their mother, the many friends dead, and now the fear that Anakin's wife may die, has become to much for Anakin. And therefore, too much for Luke. Sidiousmanipulates the twins to the Dark Side of the Force.
Padme had died, and so began a conquest of power to ease the pain of utter loss within.
