I watched them both die in front of me. I tried to jerk away from the seven people that were holding me back, but even with Strength Magic, I couldn’t break them. I had the plan, that Aaron was going to come and we could all leave, but he never did. Now I watched my wife on the machine, and all I could do was watch and scream. My daughter was already dead by it, but now I had to watch my wife suffer it too. I couldn’t do anything, and feeling as helpless as I did was the worst feeling anybody could have. The screaming only happened for a second before they all burst through the walls, surrounding us. I saw the swords and knew who they were. I broke from them and shut down the machine, and watched Calia fall over. I collapsed by her and unstrapped her as the figure dropped by me.

“There you guys are!” Aaron screamed as I heard the fighting go on.

“Grab her!” I ordered, pointing at Nessa. Once she was in his arms we stood up and quickly slid through the crowd, protecting my wife I held in my arms. We were almost free when I saw Ocea standing in the doorway, the sword in her arms and the dead Riveredge guard next to her.

“You think you’re going to get away that easily?” She laughed insanely as I saw her eyes flare up her craziness. I clutched onto Calia helplessly, never letting go again. She swung the sword above her head and I couldn’t do anything. I held her as I heard the gunshot go off, and I fell over Calia so she wouldn't take any bullets in her. I looked up and saw Ocea, bleeding from a hole in her head and collapsing over lifelessly. My eyes widened as I turned around and saw Aaron standing there, Nessa in one hand, a pistol in the other.

“You will never hurt my family ever again.” He growled through clenched teeth as he placed the gun back on his waist. “Go Cylak!” He didn’t have to say that again, we took off running, and then once we were outside, flying.

We flew right to Riveredge, and I let the highly trained doctors take over. They took them off to the medical rooms, and I sat outside with my head in my hands, sobbing into my hands until I heard the machines beeping. I peered through the little window on the door and saw both the machines beeping slowly. They were somehow both alive, and I didn’t know how. I smiled and sighed in relief, just so happy they were both alive. I didn’t start to get worried until her family came.

“What the hell were you thinking!?” Aaron screamed, pointing to the room. “You could’ve gotten them killed!”

“You don’t think I didn't know that!” I screamed back, glancing back at the room. “That’s my whole family in there!”

“Dude, you’re such a dumbass!” His voice was wavering, glancing back between the room and me. “That is my sister and my niece. If any of them die, so do you.” He threatened, and the ground started shaking.

“Aaron, I tried.” I told him honestly, shaking my head to avoid his gaze. “I’m not perfect. No one is. I wasn’t able to protect them when I thought I could.”

“Ya think!?” He sounded so furious, and suddenly I was intertwined in vines, mostly around my neck and choking me. I ripped them off with my hands, but I couldn’t stop all of them, and soon I was against the wall. “You’re never going to see them again, do you understand!?”

“You can’t tell me what I can and can’t do!” I choked out and tore off the vines, crashing to the floor. I rolled my eyes furiously when I saw her parents enter the room.

“What the hell happened!?” The King screamed, glaring at me and pointing. “You did this. I knew you were never good, but this is going too far.” He had his hand around my neck, and I let him keep it there, so as long as he wasn’t spraying water at me. “You’re going to pay for what you’ve done.”
