"Good morning!" My group therapist walks in the room excitedly. "Now, I know y'all will miss Steve, but the new Steve is here" He laughed, a few people laughing with him. I did enjoy the old Steve, he always had a way of making you feel better or wanting to be apart of something.

"This guy is weird" The boy next to me whispered. "Give him a chance, he's trying" I whispered back.
I've only seen this boy a few times. We end up sitting together a lot due to us always being late and taking the last 2 seats. I've had a few conversations with him, but they were always short.

"Ten, eleven, twelve!" Steve counted out loud. "Awesome, there is a even amount of you so we can jump right into partners because you know what they say, everything is better together!" He smiled looking around the room to see everyone just staring at him. "Y'all will come along" He laughed, getting papers out of his bag. "Everyone choose a partner as I hand these out, it isn't a test or anything, more of a get to know me paper so me, your partner and  everyone in the room can know you better"

I grabbed my paper from Steve and looked over it. "Wanna be my partner?" The boy next to me smiled. "I guess I will allow it" I joked, earning a laugh from him. "Well my name is Harry, and no I don't take any special request" He winked "Darn, you got me excited for a second"

I looked back down at the paper and begin writing down my answers.

Name? Evelyn Rose

Why are you here? My family is fucked up

What do you hope to gain from this?

"Hey, what did you get for number 3?" Stephan poked me with his pen. "I don't know yet, some annoying boy poked me with their pen on my white shirt before I could answer" "Oo, right to the heart" He grabbed his chest.

"You are more talkative then normal" I pointed out. "I'm on new medication, I honestly think it's helping" He looked back down at his paper and continued to write out answers. "Really, that's nice for you" I wanted to ask about it more, what it was and what's it for, but you just really can't ask those kinda questions here. I know it's ironic given that we are at therapy, but it's just a silent rule everyone keeps. Unless they tell you, don't ask.

"Here" I looked over to see that Harry made me a ninja star out of paper. "Aww thanks" I smiled looking down at it. I like to pretend I can do stuff like this, but in all honesty, I'm the last thing from artistic, but it's the thought that counts.

"Okay, does anyone want to start us off?" Steve sat down in his chair, looking around the room. "Okay, I'll pick for you. Caroline" He smiled brightly at the girl next to me.

I took a sign of relief, I feel bad for Caroline, but no way do I wanna talk while everyone sits and stares at me.

"Hi, I'm Caroline. I'm here because I was diagnosed with major depression and anxiety and my family thought it would be a good idea if I came to Psychoeducation to try and help me" She did a small curtsy and sat back down.

"Okay Emma"

"Hi, I'm Emma. I don't want to talk about why I'm here, because I don't believe that there is really anything wrong with me. I believe mental illness is an illusion people title themselves for attention" She sat back down, everyone in the room looking at her. I looked over at Harry , his eyes glaring at her in anger.

"Oo, right to the heart" I joked, grabbing my chest. He looked over at me with a blank face, but I knew he was trying not to smile, I'm pretty funny.

"Okay" Steve looked  around the room with a smile. "I just wanna make sure everyone knows that it's a good thing to be open and express how you feel, but when we do let's remember that other people in the room might not feel the same and have a different opinion, so let's just be aware of that"

A timer went off on Steves phone. "And with that note, our time for today is up. Next week we will continue where we left off!"

"Hey, can I get your number?" Harry followed me out of the room. "Yeah, sure"  I smiled at him before typing my number into his phone. "Cool, thanks" He waved as he left the building

Once I got home, I stood outside my house and stared at it. I could hear my parents screaming at each other  from outside and really didn't wanna go in. "Hey, how was it" my little brother rode up next to me on his bike. "Take a guess" I rolled my eyes.

I feel bad being rude to him, but every time I come home, I just instantly feel annoyed and irritated with everything. "Well did you make any new friends?" "Well not really new, but I began talking to someone more" I smiled pulling the ninja star out of my pocket to show him. "Oh that's so cool, can I have it?" He asked reaching for it. "No" i put it back in my pocket before the front door swung open.

"Get inside, now!" My mother screamed from the porch at both of us. We looked at each other before I took off one way and he took off the other on his bike. "Justine, Evelyn!" She screamed from porch, but we didn't stop, we knew what would happen if we did.

I stopped outside the park in our neighborhood before taking a seat on the bench. I grabbed my phone out of my pocket and smiled when I saw a text from Harry

Okay, so I know it's not the best chapter but I didn't know a better way to start it then to jump into it. My hope for this book is to bring a lot of awareness towards things people don't talk about or have a hard time doing it. So their will be trigger warnings, however if you guys need anything just DM me! The next chapter will be more upbeat and fun <3
