I wake to someone shaking my shoulders. My first thoughts wander to Hermes. We had spent the last 2 weeks together. We shared kisses in front of palace maids and servants, sat close together in the presence of other gods and goddesses, and we're always with each other. Hermes was seriously getting into character, one of the young minor gods asked me to take a walk through the garden and Hermes pulled me to close into his side and growled, "think again pretty boy."
At least I think that was him getting into character.....
"Lainey, wake up."
"Hermes?" I groan.
"Uh, ew, no." The voice says, "it's Percy."
"Hi Percy. Why'd you say ew?" I greet sleepily.
"Because....I'm not Hermes." He says, "I'm your brother, not your lover."
I roll my eyes, "Thank you, Captain Obvious."
"Get up, get changed." He commands.
I whine, "But Percy! Five more mintues!"
He sighs, "I didn't want to have to do this."
He grabs my arm and pulls me out of my bed. I jump up and punch his arm, "I hate you."
"Yeah get in line."
After I change, Percy takes my hand and we flash travel just like the day I met him. We were at a beach, and it was pitch black. I look over at my brother, "hey Perc, what time is it?"
"Like 4 a.m." He shrugs.
"FOUR A.M.!" I yell.
He snaps back, "this is the only time i can work with you! If you want to sleep so bad then go, you'll be un trained, un cordinated, and get yourself killed."
"Dang Percy, you are so not a morning person." I mutter under my breath, "so what're we doing?"
He takes my hand and pulls me about knee deep into the water, "brother-sister bonding."
I look up at him skeptically. He smiles down at me, "just kidding. We're training."
He stands with his feet parted, hand outstretched, and eyes squeezed shut in concentration. Not thirty seconds later, there was a huge wave barreling towards us. I get a little scared, "uh, Percy? Percy!"
He pulls me to his side and the wave crashes over us, except it didn't touch us.
I admire his work, "woah! How'd you do that?!"
"I'll show you." He states, "spread your feet apart, hold your hand out, and we all have something that helps us focus. Mine is squeezing my eyes shut. Today is about finding yours."
"Um, okay." I just go along with it.
"So now, do exactly what I just did." He commands.
I spread my feet apart, hold out my hand, and squeeze my eyes shut.
Then it happens. I was already getting tired from the concentration. I summoned every bit over energy I could conjure in my body. Suddenly, all of my concentrated energy took over and it happened. The water ten feet away from us rippled, send little bumps in the water towards our legs. Wow.
I face palm and Percy chuckles, "impressive Lainey."
"Shut up." I groan.
"Here." He stands right behind me, and holds up our hands. He says against my ear, "concentrate."
"I can't." I mumble, "it wore me out, I'm too tired. I'm out of energy."
"You've got to use the water Lainey." He informs, "the water is your energy."
I take a deep breath, "okay."
I take the same stance, except this time I bite my lip to concentrate. I still felt way tired, and I think Percy knew that, because he placed his hand on my ribs and I felt energy coercing through my veins. He gave me some of his energy. I used that energy and created a small wave and pulled it towards us.
I look up behind me to Percy. He smiles down at me, "good job sis."
Percy was pulling me down the long hallway of the palace in the still early morning. He keeps his concentration, as he and I loudly rushed down the hall. He was determined. Until a door opened, revealing a sleepy, bed-headed Hermes.
"Keep it dow-" he sees me, "hey beautiful."
My cheeks flush and I bite my lip, then I remembered it was just apart of our game and look down. Hermes seemed to notice because he tilted my chin up. His eyebrows scrunch together, Percy huffed, I could feel his eyes roll.
Hermes looked at me, "come here."
He pulled me into his room and Percy tried to interject, "but we don't have tim-" but the door was already shut.
Hermes holds me by my arms, "what's wrong."
"Stop." I mutter.
"What?"
"I said stop."
He looks at me confused, "stop what? What did I do wrong?"
"This relationship thing. The calling me beautiful and flirting with me." I clarify.
"You are beautiful Lainey, and it's fun to flirt with you." He was slowly backing me up to the wall.
"You're doing it again," I whine, "stop."
"What's wrong with it?" He asks.
I sigh, "it's just, I get so happy when you flirt with me and call me beautiful and kiss me. But then I remember it's all apart of the game. It's all a joke."
His hand had found my hips and he was looking down at me. I look down, but he tilts my chin back up and presses his lips to mine softly, "Lainey, you are so beautiful."
He kisses me again, keeping me pinned to the wall by my hips. I couldn't get away even if I wanted to. I never said I wanted to. My stomach flipped over and over, my heart was pounding in my throat, my toes tingled, and my body relaxed.
"Hermes stop." I whisper weakly, "please."
"I still don't know what I'm doing." He informs quietly, his lips brushing mine as he speaks.
I look him in the eyes, "you're making me fall for you."
