Just A Scratch- Levi x reader

It all happened so fast you could barely move. It was like any other expedition outside the walls but for some reason you hadn't been focused.

You were a captain like Levi and Erwin had even considered making you his replacement if anything were to happen to him.

You were killing Titans left and right, not stopping for any breaks or to refill your fuel. You had forgotten that the tiniest mistake could very well be your downfall.

Everything was going so well and it didn't cross your mind to leave the area yet, not when you were doing so great.

Levi, unbeknownst to you, had instructed Eren,Armin and Mikasa to stay close to you. He wanted them to be ready to help at any given moment.

Maybe itall started when your maneuver gear jammed and you couldn't direct yourself to a different location. Or when your slices got messy while you tried to kill the bloodthirsty monsters surrounding you.

"C'mon you piece of rusty metal! Work damnit!"

You gripped the blades tightly and slashed at the nearest does but to no avail.

"Captain (Y/N)!"

Eren was rushing towards you, killing about three abnormal Titans.

"Stop Eren! I'll be fine but you need to get to the rest of the scouts! You have to get away!"

"But you-"

"Go now Eren! What kind of captain would I be if I couldn't even kill the Titans? Our mission is to protect you from harm and I swore I would! Just go!"

Hesitantly he started to go back but not before he saw one of the creatures bite down on your dangling leg. You let out a shriek of pain, tears dripping along your cheeks.

As Eren's group was going forward he had passed by his superior.

"Eren is everything alright? Did something happen!?"

"Captain (Y/N), a Titan bit her. I couldn't help..."

Eren didn't need to say anymore as Levi raced towards your location, dread written on his face.

He slashed away at the giants who held you, rage and fear moving him forward.

He grabbed your limp body, and gasped as he saw your left leg was no more. You had passed out from what he assumed to be blood loss and your skin was growing pale.

As he made it back to the fleeing group, he glared viciously at Eren who held his head down in shame.

"We have to get her to the castle immediately, Erwin! She's losing blood and fast!"

"I understand but are you sure she'll survive the trip to Rose? It's at least an hour and her wound is severe."

"Of course I'm sure, she has to."

He grabbed your cloak off your shoulders, tearing the material and tying a tourniquet above the severed limb.

He placed you in a wagon, having a scout look after you.

Once you all arrived, every injured person was placed in the medical field, and depending on the injury some were given immediate attention. Like you.

Levi sat worried in his office, trying to do paperwork or anything at all to help him calm down. To put it straight, he was worried sick about you and extremely pissed at Eren, Armin and Mikasa.

A knock at his door made him break from his trance. It was a nurse who had come to update him.

"She's resting right now and is still unconscious but her surgery was a success. You can visit her if you would like, captain."

"Sure I'll be there."

As he saw you bandaged up and sleeping, he relaxed a bit. He pulled up a chair next to your bedside and sat down.

The nurse walked out of the room, closing the door quietly.

"This wasn't supposed to happen to you. I told those idiots to protect you but they didn't listen."

You shifted in your sleep and seemed to shiver.

He pulled the blanket over you and put a hand to your cheek.

"I just wanted you safe and unharmed this time. If anything I would rather it be me. Erwin even talked about you being his predecessor and I... I probably couldn't even get close to your talent."

You had wrapped your arms around his body, pulling him close in your incoherent state.

"If only I protected you this would never occurred."

He shut his eyes and leaned over the bedside, cradling your body against his chest.

Your eyes fluttered open slowly, like a butterfly flapping it's wings for the first time.

"Levi....are you there?"

His grip tightened on you and his eyes remained closed, he was fast asleep.

Cards and flowers sat at your bedside table, some from the cadets and others from your fellow superiors.

You gently shook his shoulders, trying to wake him up.

"(Y/N)? You're awake?"

You pulled him in an embrace, crying into his chest and sobbing as you slowly remembered pieces of the other day.

"Please don't apologise for what happened, I just got carried away."

"I'm just glad you're alive. If I had made it in time..."

"It's okay really just stay. Just stay here for me."

"I'll always be here for you, you know that (Y/N)."

You sat up straight and was about to get up completely until he set you back down on the bed.

"Do you remember what happened to you yesterday?"

"All I remember is getting surrounded by Titans and you saved me."

He looked down at the floor, contemplating how he should tell you the news.

"Just know that whatever happens I'm here for you."

You nodded and carefully he pulled the blanket off of you, exposing the bandages on your abdomen and leg.

"One of those monsters grabbed your waist and another took a bite. The first thing crushed two of your ribs while the other, bit your leg..."

You placed a hand on your stomach and jerked as the area was still sensitive.

"So how am I gonna move around? I can't exactly jump on one leg everywhere."

"Crutches now, prosthetic later. Do you feel sick or weak?"

"No I'm alright, it's shocking but I'll manage. It's just a scratch after all."

You laid your head on his shoulder, closing your eyes and hugging his side.

"Whatever you say brat. I still have to talk to those cadets."

"Don't be so harsh, I gave them an order and they followed it. Deal with it later if you have to, but I'm gonna go back to bed."

"I'll stay with you and make sure you're okay. Good morning (Y/N)."

"Good morning Levi."
