"Am I interrupting?"

I turn my head to the voice I hear behind me and I see Stellan.

As he enters the room, he locks eyes with Jack. They both have the same stoic expression on their faces. Stellan approaches us standing in the center of the room. He quietly stands behind me.

"Pouvons-nous parler?" Jack asks. He can't even seem to look at me. Both of their eyes are locked on one another. Stellan smiles.

"Your pronunciation was always bad." Stellan says avoiding the question.

Jack grabs Stellan's arm and pulls him into another room.

As they walk away, they left me in the middle of the room. I let the dark wooden door open with Jack's rage and close behind them. I wait two beats and quietly tip toe to ty to hear the conversation through the door.

The mumbling voices don't travel very far so I press my ear up to the door. I can hear both voices very distinctly.

"What were you thinking!" the British voice yells.

"Well I-" Stellan started.

"NO! I can finish your thought. You see you weren't thinking. You weren't. I know you weren't because you don't think. It's like you are completely unable to make smart decisions. Did you even use a condom? I know Avery isn't on any birth control. So how are you going to explain yourself? How will this go over with the Circle and the others? You are supposed to be a leader. Do you think this is how leaders act?" Jack spat. He grilled Stellan all in one breath. It was impressive actually.

Stellan stayed quiet for a second. I felt the silence in my chest. I wasn't even in the room, but I knew the expression on his face. I know he has a blank stare, but it's not his thinking face or his stone cold poker face. His poker face lacks any expression, but his when he is thinking his eyebrows are pressed together. His face now lacks expression, but his eyes speak with some compassion.

"You're wrong...well not completely wrong, but wrong non the less. Yes you are right for assuming that we didn't use protection, but it'll be fine. I love kids!" Stellan says probably with a cheeky smile.

"This isn't a joke." Jack responds.

"I'm not laughing. But still why can't you be happy for me Jackie or at least happen for Avery?" Stellan says.

"I love Avery. I'm not leaving either. I'm scared, but I'm not leaving. You are right. I have a responsibility to stay for Avery and Anya." Stellan continues.

"It's cute that you want a family. Really it' very admirable, but when you do leave and when you do hurt everyone around you I have to come and clean it up. You are not only in charge of a life and leaving this child behind will forever leave them guessing and wondering why they weren't enough, but if you leave Avery...you'll break her. She's strong so she will carry on and she will step up and take care of everything without you, but she would never be the same." Jack mumbled with hurt in his stained voice.

"I'm never leaving." Stellan says. He abruptly starts to walk out the door.

I hear his footsteps and run back to the center of the living room and I sit on the couch as the door opens. Stellan opens the door and walks over towards me. It doesn't take him long to stroll across the room with his long strides. He sits on the couch with me. We sit in silence for a second. I turn towards him and I see Jack in the doorway staring.

"Do you want to sit on the balcony?" I ask quietly holding my eye contact with Jack for a little too long.

He nods. As we get up he grabs my hands and leads us to the balcony.

Author's note- Hi :) it's been a while, and I'm sorry for the shorter chapter, but I'll start writing more for fun now that school is over.
