It was only a couple days before I started work at 'Morgan Contracting', and I was actually really excited. To keep busy, I rode my bike around the block to scope out different take out places to try, since neither dad nor I were avid cooks. The summer heat in St. George was nothing like that of California, but it was a tiring one nonetheless. It reminded me a lot of when Caleb and I would argue over where to go for something cold on a hot day, until we discovered out fro-yo dates made both of us happy.

In fact, the heat in general made me think of Kacie and Caleb, and how I haven't talked to either of them, other than when I arrived. I whipped out my phone to see no notifications. I called Kacie's number. No answer. I then tried Caleb's cell. No answer.

They're probably just busy too, I thought. I made a mental note to try again later, before hopping back on my bike. I pedaled towards the end of my street, and turned left out of my neighborhood. I went on for a good mile or two before I first saw a magnificent structure to my right. Pulling up to get a closer look, I read the marquee out front: "North Point High School". I then realize that this is probably going to be the one I attend in the fall, if I stay that long. I was unsure of how I felt, the idea of spending my senior summer, and potentially senior year, away from all of my friends was a little intimidating. Not only that, but... boring. Taking a right at the intersection across the street from the school, was the pick me up I didn't know I needed: I found a frozen yogurt place.

The shop was called "Dingo's", and it had a purple kangaroo with a yellow cup of froyo on the front. It was already a redeemable quality of this town. I eagerly hopped off of my bike and practically skipped inside. Upon entering, I grabbed my cup and filled it to the top with birthday cake flavored froyo, and then topped it high with cookie crumbs and gummy worms. When I got to the cash register, I suddenly realize that I had no money. Here I was mindlessly wandering throughout the store, paying no mind to the fact that I could not pay for the treat.

Before I was able to say anything, the cashier caught me off guard: "You're new here aren't you?" The girl looked to be my age, maybe a year younger with her young looking face. She was really pretty, in a unique, unconventional way. She had light purple hair, just shy of lavender, and really pretty hazel eyes that reminded me of April's. She had a roman shaped nose, and overall looked very European. She was also very tall compared to me, similar to my sister and I's height difference. In fact, her demeanor reminded me a lot of April too. I think I missed April a little bit.

"Hello? Earth to customer. Looks like we've lost another one." She pretended to whisper to someone behind her.

"Huh? Sorry. Yeah, I'm new here. I just moved in a couple days ago... Faye" I smiled, reading her name tag.

"You're fine." She giggled, "Anyways your total will be $4.79."

"Actually. I totally bricked on bringing my wallet with me. I got so excited I didn't even think about it. If you give me like five seconds though, I can totally go run back and give you the money, and then some for the trouble." I stammered, trying to somehow escape from embarrassment.

"Nonsense! You don't have to do that. Here I'll tell you what we're going to do." She started, "My shift ends in 5 minutes, and you and I can have a quick bite together. I'm sure a new friend couldn't hurt you, right?" She smiled big, proud of her on-a-whim plan.

I smiled and nodded shyly, seeing as I would be really grateful for both froyo and a new friend. We grabbed our cups after her shift was over, and sat underneath a large willow tree in front of the school.

"I'm Corinne. Morgan."

"Hi, Corinne Morgan, I'm Faye Gibson. But I guess you already knew that, well half of that at least. Not that you are a stalker or anything, I just meant tha-" She began to ramble.
