The next morning, my alarm was more annoying than usual. I shut my phone off, hoping to sleep for another five minutes, but the sound kept mocking me. "Oh my goodness!" I shouted as I sat up. I turned my head and was face to face with Hyunjin.
"Good morning, sleepyhead! We've gotta leave soon so we can get to school on time." He said as he rolled me out of bed. "Is this your stuff?" He asked, pointing to my suitcase and two large gym bags filled to the brim with my clothes and other necessities.
"Yeah, you can pack it in your car, I'll get ready and meet you out there." I yawned out. I left and made my way to the bathroom to start brushing my teeth and getting dressed. I brushed through my hair and did a quick braid. Once I finished my general morning routine, I jumped into Hyunjins' passenger seat.
Hyunjin already had his playlist blasting from his speakers. The drive was decent, 30 minutes there with mild traffic, and their parking lot was easy to get in and find a spot. Hyunjin's mom printed out his email with all the information he'd need for today, and I brought the letter that came in the mail. We both grabbed our bags and made our way to the dormitory building across the parking lot.
There were three people waiting for us, the headmaster and two women. "Hello! Welcome to Choi Academy! I am Headmaster Choi. This is your Student Affairs Coordinator, Miss Lunar, and the Dorm Parent of the ladies' side, Mrs. Crow."
"I'm sorry," Mrs. Crow apologized to Hyunjin, "Mr. Crow was supposed to be here, but he had to do last-minute dorm inspections. We have the same duties and everything, so I should be able to answer any questions you may have!" She finished explaining with pep in her step and an eagerness in her voice.
"You won't see much of me around, but these two and Mr. Crow will be. You can go to them with any questions, concerns, problems, et cetera. Now, please, if you'll excuse me. I have to get back to my office. There's a meeting I can not be late for." Headmaster Choi explained, excusing herself and making her way across the parking lot.
"If you'll excuse me as well, I'm loaded up with paperwork, and these two won't be able to start classes until it's finished." Miss Lunar explained, also leaving and following Headmaster Choi to the school.
It was just Hyunjin, Mrs. Crow and I outside of the dorms. "Well then... we should head inside!" She said, breaking the awkward silence. When we walked in, we were greeted by a large entrance hall. There were high ceilings, large light fixtures, and plenty of seating. There was a coffee bar, a fake fireplace with a large television, and study tables along the walls. Next to the large staircases leading to the rooms were two elevators each. It was very high class, and I was lucky to be here. "This is the 'foyer' of sorts. This is typically where students can go to study, eat, or just unwind after classes. We are a 5-day boarding school, but most students who don't live nearby can stay in their dorms. The curfew is at 9 P.M. during the week, 11 P.M. on weekends, and Co-Ed visitations are from 3 P.M. to 8 P.M. However, it can be sooner on some days, so just check the bulletin board every Friday for new information." She quickly rattled off, pointing to a cork board behind the three coffee machines.
Next to the rules and coffee recipes was a mini whiteboard with "CURFEW TIMES" written on it. "Well, that's the basics of it all. If there's anything else you'd like to ask me or my husband, our room is right behind that door, and we'll most likely be in there. All of your dorm information should have been sent to you, along with everything else. Have fun!" Mrs. Crow said before scurrying off to her room, which was next to the fireplace.
"She's a character, isn't she?" A stranger said. Hyunjin and I whipped our heads around to see a fairly tall girl, about Hyunjin's height, with her arms crossed and a large smile on her face. "Hello! I'm Jangmi Choi, but my friends call me Rose. You can call me that too!" She held out her hand to shake. I shook it, and she looked at me, waiting for me to introduce myself. "Are you Y/n?" I nodded in response, and her smile widened. "Oh my gosh, my mom told me all about you and how high your grades are! She also told me that on your application, you put that you're mute?"
