I waited until the noise of everyone moving around became muffled conversations from rooms. I made my way out of my dorm and to the foyer, being as quiet as I could so no one said anything to me.
I made my to Hyunjin's dorm, wanting to see him before I shut myself in my room. Once I got there, I could hear shouting behind the door. I knocked gently, looking around anxiously while I did. Eventually, the door opened, but Hyunjin wasn't the one who opened it. "Hello?" The stranger asked. I smiled awkwardly and pulled up a picture of Hyunjin. I showed it to him, pointing at his face with a questioning face. "Hyunjin! There's a girl here to see you!" He shouted, walking back into the room.
Hyunjin darted into view, turned his head, and widened his eyes at me. "Y/n! I didn't think you'd actually show up! I didn't think I'd see you until tomorrow!" He grabbed my hand and dragged me into the room. There were two people on the couch playing a video game. "This is Seungmin," Hyunjin introduced, gesturing towards the guy who opened the door, "and this is Jeongin!" He gestured to the other boy.
They both turned and smiled when their name was said, and I saw Jeongin's braces. I smiled at Hyunjin and nodded. "Who's your friend?" Seungmin asked with a tone that sounded like he was encouraging Hyunjin to say more.
"Oh, yeah!" He moved me in front of the two so they didn't have to turn around anymore. "Guys, this is Y/n! She's been my best friend for, like, ever. She doesn't talk, so don't get offended that she doesn't respond to you."
I smiled and waved as if to say, "Nice to meet you!" They smiled back and un-paused their game. Hyunjin sat me at their bar and went to grab a drink.
"So... what brought you over here?" He asked.
I leaned forward, so when I whispered, only he would hear. "I wanted to apologize." He sat next to me and furrowed his brows, handing me the drink. Before he could respond, I kept going, "I don't want you to replace me with new friends and forget about me. You're my best friend, I love you." I rambled to him.
"Oh my gosh! I will never forget about you! You're my best friend, and I love you too! After everything we've been through, I'm never letting you go!" He said, wrapping his arms around me in a tight hug. "Alright, I'm gonna take a quick shower before I unpack everything. People should be heading to class soon, so you can wait in my room if you wanna help!"
I nodded, and he smiled. He gave me his drink and left to the bathroom. After a few minutes, Seungmin and Jeongin left, and I was by myself in their living room. I decided to have a look around, and I noticed the pictures on the wall. They were all taped to the wall in a dizzying array. Nothing was organized. I assumed it was intentional and didn't think anything about it anymore.
I stared at one picture more than the others. It was Seungmin, Jeongin, and Seokmin, but there were three others with them. A short guy, a taller guy, and a guy with freckles. The longer I stared at Seokmin and Seungmin, the more similar they started to look.
I shook off the feeling and went to go sit on the couch when I saw Hyunjin standing in the doorway, waiting for me. "Those are all cute pictures, right?" He asked, a goofy grin on his face. "I hope we get put on there soon. I know it's just my dorm, but it would mean a lot, y'know. To have so many people call you friend and be close enough for them to want to look at your picture every day." The entire time he was talking, he was walking towards the wall. Once he got there, he turned to look at me. "Maybe you could bring in our pictures and put them in our rooms! Like our own mini version of this!"
"Like what we did in our lockers?"
"Exactly!" He said, smiling even wider than before. This time, I smiled with him. "Well, let's go, we both have some unpacking to do!"
I started to follow him when we heard a knock on the door. Hyunjin shrugged and went to open it. "Oh... where's Seungmin?" I heard a deep voice ask. I peeked around Hyunjin to see the freckles boy from the picture. His eyes flickered across the room and caught mine. He smirked, and Hyunjin let him in.
"Everyone's in class right now. Why are you not?" Hyunjin asked, giving him a look as the new stranger just stared at me. "Excuse me -"
"My name is Felix. Seungmin and Jeongin are my friends. They told me they would still be here, that is why I'm looking for them." Hyunjin and I looked at him, still lost in the excuse. "We all planned to skip our class after lunch and play games. There. Satisfied?"
Hyunjin nodded and closed the door. "So, Felix, I'm Hyunjin, and this is Y/n!" Hyunjin introduced me once again today.
I stuck out my hand for him to shake, and he just looked at it. Then he leaned towards Hyunjin while still looking at me and whispered, "she doesn't talk much, does she?"
I shook my head in response, and he smirked. "You know I'll be seeing you again." He shook my hand and then went to the door. "Goodbye, I'll see you two tomorrow." He said as he left, winking at me.
My eyes were wide, and when I glanced at Hyunjin, so were his. I rolled up my sleeve and teared up. "Was that -" I just nodded. "Y/n!" Hyunjin turned to me. "He's the one! You've found him!"
"But he's so... strange, " I whispered, not knowing what else to say.
"That's okay! You just have to talk to him the next time you see him, just as confirmation! We have to know, and if it is him, you can get to know him more! It's perfect! This is so great! We both find our soulmates on our first day here!" He exclaimed, wrapping me in a bear hug.
"You know..." I started pushing myself out of his tight grasp, "He really didn't talk much. He's kinda like me in a way!"
"See! You two have so much in common already!" I smiled thinking about it. Maybe moving schools was the best idea after all. "Let's go, I have got a lot to unpack. Emotionally and physically." He said as he practically dragged me to his room.
