I didn't see or hear from Hinata until two days later. He was very unpredictable and seemed to never be on his phone. He just showed up spontaneously, whenever he felt like it.
This time it was around three in the afternoon. He knocked on my door while I was eating lunch, so my dad answered. He was greeted with the short redhead.
"Sorry, I don't want to buy anything," I heard my dad say.
"Oh, no I'm not here to sell anything. Im here for Kageyama!" Hinata explained, and I almost choked on my noodles when I heard his voice.
I walked in on my dad looking extremely confused. He was probably not used to me having friends.
"Hey Kageyama!" Hinata said as I rushed in. He looked adorable, giving me his usual charming smile. His wild hair was pushed out of his face by a headband.
"Bye dad!" I said, rushing out the door with Hinata. My father just looked befuddled as he watched me lead Hinata to the car.
"Jeez," The smaller boy said as he got into the driver's seat "You're super awkward in front of your dad"
"I guess," I said as he began to drive.
After about an hour of driving and Hinata refusing to tell me where we were going, we came to a stop.
"Where are we?" I asked, looking around. We were surrounded by trees. Hinata just shushed me and took off his headband. He put it over my eyes so I couldn't see.
"You're not gonna murder me, right?" I asked, only kind of joking. I mean I did meet this kid in the psychiatric hospital.
"Shut up dork, I just want to take you somewhere special"
I smiled to myself and let him lead me through the woods. Finally, we came to a stop. As he took off my blindfold, I saw a beautiful, shimmering lake.
"Wanna go for a swim?" Hinata asked, as he took his shirt off. I tried my best not to blush, but I felt my face heat up. Hinata just laughed at me. I watched as he jumped straight into the water, screaming wildly.
"Come in!" He shouted at me as he resurfaced.
I sighed as I took off my shirt. Walking towards the water, I asked "Is it cold?"
Hinata didn't respond. He had a mischievous glint in his eyes and a smirk that screamed "I'm up to something". I went to dip my foot into the water and feel it, when he grabbed me by the ankle and pulled me in.
When I resurfaced, I splashed water in his face.
"You bitch! I'm gonna get you back for that," I said, between laughs.
He just splashed me back and smiled. We spent the whole day swimming around, looking at the clouds, and talking. By the time we got out of the water, it was dark.
"God, it's so pretty tonight" I said, looking at the stars.
"I know," He replied. "I love staring at the stars and just realizing how small we are. It really puts thinks in perspective, y'know?"
I laughed, "Maybe you're small, but I'm not."
He gave me a playful shove and went over to a rock overlooking the lake. He gestured me over, and sat down.
"Come look at the sky with me!" he exclaimed.
I made my way over, heart beating fast. I thought of the moment we shared after the party, and wondered if this would be like that. And if it was like that, what would that mean for our relationship.
I sat close to Hinata, and looked up. Despite the beautiful night sky, I couldn't help but watch the excitement on Hinata's face as he pointed out the constellations and different stars. When I saw him like this, I felt euphoric. Hinata clearly just enjoyed life, and lived without following anyone else's rules. It amazed me how adventurous and confident he was. It's rare to find someone like him. Someone who's free. Someone who's alive.
Hinata caught me staring at him, and smiled at me. His eyes met mine as he leaned in.
Before I knew it, we were kissing.
Before I knew it, my shirt was off.
Before I knew it, I was back home and in my bed.
