"hey, vin?" cassie called through the house as she held the freshly made bottle that was half full to the infants mouth. peeking his head into the bedroom, vin cocked an eyebrow as he urged the woman to continue her question. "could you maybe... go to the store for me? just a quick drive to the-"

"yes, of course." vinny didn't need the woman to degrade her needs, whatever she needed, he'd take care of it as best as he could.

"i'm feeling a little sick, and i just need some nyquil from the store. maybe some chocolate too... but uh... can you take sarah with you?" the baby in her arms finished up her bottle, but she kept sucking on the nipple of it. "please, i'm so tired." her eyelids drooped as she set the empty bottle on the nightstand beside her.

fully walking into the room, vinny outstretched his hands, reaching for the baby in the woman's arms. "of course, love. what do you... need again?" the corners of his lips quirked up into a smile while the infant wrapped its small hand around one of his fingers.

"nyquil, and some chocolate. or ice cream. i'm not sure. which ever is fine." vinny repeated the list in his head while he took out the carrier. "you might want to take the-the... baby harness instead."

"you're right. where's it at?" after a couple minutes of searching through the downstairs closet, he found the harness he'd later use in the store. "alrighty sarah, let's get you all buckled in," vinny says, worry in his voice as he inspects the baby car seat. his wife was normally the one who set everything up, but it wasn't rocket science, so eventually vinny would get it all set up properly.

the car ride was mainly peaceful aside from the tiny sector of separation anxiety sarah suffered with at first. for the most part, sarah was a calm baby, but she dreaded the times her parents left her sight.
inside of the store, vinny slightly tapped his foot while skimming through the many ice cream options. "cute baby," a woman cooed as she opened one of the freezer doors.

"oh uh, thanks." vinny watched as the other woman pulled out a pistachio ice cream, cringing at the sound of it.

"what's her name?" closing the door, the woman never took her eyes away from the man's chest where the baby sat inside of its harness.

"sarah, her name is sarah." his right arm wrapped around the front of the harness in a protective matter as the woman inched closer.

"aww. what's your name?" everything about this encounter was off putting. this woman was probably ten years younger than him, and she was getting far too invested in the infant in his arms.

"vincent," he answers shortly. "which ice cream do you think my wife would like best?" at the sudden mention of his wife, the woman pursed her lips, receiving the hint.

"i'm not sure." as the woman walked off, vinny silently chuckled to himself. his eyes casted down to the wide-eyed baby.

"hi sarah," vinny gushed, patting the front of the harness where her back sat against. "what would mommy like, huh?" obviously the infant couldn't respond, nor did she understand what her father was saying, but vinny didn't mind. he adored watching her curious face as he spoke.

upon returning home, sarah only now began to cry. "we were doing so good, sarah. what's wrong?" sarah's eyes were filled with crocodile tears as she stared up at her father. "huh." picking her back up, he took notice in how she ceased to cry. "you just want some snuggles huh, honey?" gripping onto vinny's cardigan button, sarah cooed with delight.

climbing up the stairs, vinny could hear the silent sobs of cassie. "baby?" she asked, looking to the doorframe as he entered into her view. "i... i got worried. you didn't answer your phone." setting sarah down into her white crib, vinny handed cassie her smaller tub of raspberry fudge ice cream. his hand rested upon the woman's hand as he sighed.

"don't worry, cass. i think i actually left my phone here," vinny chuckled softly. "i'm sorry. but... i'll always be here, cassie. don't worry." cassie really had no clue why she began to cry so intensely. perhaps it was because her 6 month old baby was out of her grasp for the first time, and her husband wasn't answering his phone while the two were away.

"always?" she questioned, wiping away her salty tears with the back of her free hand.

"always, i promise."
