glancing over at the digital clock, sadie sighed softly with exhaustion. "come on, sadie, it's gonna be good for us both," lydia says, poking the back of her earring through her ear. "i mean, look at alyssa garner. she's happier than ever." it was true, alyssa has been suffering with severe depression and struggles with anxiety, but she's overcome them since she's joined the support group. "and well... you seem a little depressed recently.""i broke my leg, lydia. i can't do my after school activity anymore... and it's my senior year. of course i'm upset, but i'm not depressed," sadie scoffed, taking a drink of her strawberry smoothie. "maybe even a little embarrassed," she confessed. falling in front of half of your school wasn't an ideal memory to have for the rest of your senior year, let alone be known for it around the halls.
"what if you meet someone cute, sadie?" lydia's way of persuasion wasn't horrible, but it didn't make sadie desire to go to a support group.
"meet a guy at a support group? yeah, that sounds like the best idea yet," she remarked sarcastically. "listen, the last thing i want is to date someone who has just as many problems as i do, if not more. sounds lovely." rolling her eyes, lydia picked her friend up from off of the bed by pulling on her arms.
"don't be so sour, sadie." the blonde grabbed her car keys and turned back to her best friend. "just have faith, ok?" lydia was desperate for her friend to have that same look of hope she always does, only she didn't. nothing seemed to fill her anymore... other than the diary she kept hidden away from every other soul she comes in contact with.
arriving at the school, sadie took notice in the few cars that littered the parking lot. still, her head was filled with bees at the idea of sitting in a room full of other awkward people. the desolate halls were illuminated by the blue tinted lights that hung from the white ceiling, guiding them toward the open room. peering inside of the warm, and inviting room, sadie urged lydia to go in without her. "i'm gonna go pee real quick, ok? i'll be right back." lydia nodded to her friend with a cheery smile.
slyly, sadie pushed open the two green, metal doors that led to the outside, the harsh stench of cigarette smoke stinging her nostrils. searching for the source, she locked eyes with a shaggy brunet who was leaned against the outside wall. eyes narrowed, and eyebrows knitted together, vinny attempted to find the reasoning why the crippled girl was out in the school parking lot right now. "vinny?" the girl questions, recognition dawning on her face.
