THE GINGERBREAD MAN
Once, there was an old woman and an old man. One day, the old woman made some dough and cut out a the dough gingerbread man.
The old woman made him a chocolate jacket and cinnamon buttons and eyes. Then she put the gingerbread man in the oven to bake.
After some time, the old woman opened the oven door. At once, the gingerbread man jumped out of the oven! He ran out of the house.
The gingerbread man said, "Catch me if you can. I am the gingerbread man!" The old woman and the old man ran behind the gingerbread man. But they could not catch him.
A cow saw the gingerbread man running. She said, "Stop, gingerbread man. I want to eat you." But the gingerbread man said, "Catch me if you can. I am the gingerbread man!"
The cow ran after the gingerbread man. But she could not catch him. Then, a horse saw the gingerbread man. "Stop, gingerbread man. I want to eat you," he said.
But the gingerbread man said, "Catch me if you can. I am the gingerbread man!" The horse ran after the gingerbread man. But he couldn't catch him either.
Soon, the gingerbread man saw a fox coming towards him. The gingerbread man said, "Catch me if you can. I am the gingerbread man!"
The fox was very clever. He said, "I do not want to catch you. I just want to run with you." The fox ran behind the gingerbread man. Soon, they reached a river.
The gingerbread man could not swim. He looked behind and saw the horse, the Cow, the old man and the old woman running towards him.
The fox said, "Jump on my tail. I will take you across the river." So, the gingerbread man jumped on the fox's tail. The fox started swimming.
When they were in the middle of the river, the fox said, "Gingerbread man, you will get wet. Jump on my back." The gingerbread man did so.
When they reached the other side of the river, the fox said, "Gingerbread man, you will get wet. Jump on my nose." The gingerbread man did so.
At once, the fox threw the gingerbread man and gobbled the gingerbread man! Well, a gingerbread man is meant to be eaten, isn't he?
