Hi, beautiful people. I am back for good (I hope).
Happy reading and enjoy!
General Pov.
It is a loud argument who wakes Beam up. Groggy, he opens his eyes blearily recognizing Phana's voice and a strangely familiar deep voice shouting at each other. Beam blinks slowly, his eyelashes casting darker shadows over his waxy complexion.
He raises himself on his elbows, Beam frowns surprised to not feel any pain coming from his body. He only feels a dull ache at best but nothing worrisome.
As he is about to get up from the hospital bed, the door handle moves.
Fast, Beam lays down on the bed and closes his eyes hoping that whoever is walking inside won't linger there too long.
But luck doesn't seem to be on his side since this morning.
Because Beam can hear the faint noise of footsteps approaching closer to his bed. Choosing to pretend he is still unconscious, he remains still.
'If it was Pha, he would have spoken by now...' He ponders.
"How are you doing?" A deep voice that makes something in Beam quacks.
The young man keeps his eyes closed wishing hard the other man will leave him alone.
"Aren't you a bit too old for playing pretend?"
'How did he..?'
"How do I know...? You are frowing."
Embarrassed, Beam opens his eyes to see the taller man gazing down at him with something akin to curiosity. He clears his throat feeling self-conscious and uneasy by the umpenetrable gaze trained on him.
"I...thought you were Pha..."
"Dr. Konghtanin is a friend of yours?" The strange man cuts him.
Surprised by the weird question, Beam frowns slightly as he feels an unsettling feeling moves in the back of his head. Slowly he shakes his head and the odd sensation settles down when the man nods in acknowledgment.
"You fainted but you seem to be in a good shape. My name is Forth, thank you for saving my life."
"...I don't think I did much." Beam mumbles under his breath still puzzled by the strange sensation.
"Oh! Yes, you did...without your help my driver and I will be dead by now. Do you want a reward?"
"A...what?"
"A reward for saving my life." Forth repeats as he pulls a bank check from his wallet. "Put the amount you wish."
The taller man puts the check on the hospital night stand under Beam's dumbfounded gaze. He sends an inquisitive look to him wondering if it is some kind of bad joke.
"Wha...what? You are being serious?"
"I never joke around, Khun Vongviphan." Forth assures him while straightening his tie.
Unbeknown to him, Beam's gaze goes back to his throat.
'He is completely healed...not even a scratch.' He observes.
As if reading his mind, Forth's thumb goes to his collar where he rubs the unblemished skin. Beam follows the gesture then glances up only to see the man staring at him with an intense gaze.
Feeling uneasy for the second time because of Forth's gaze, Beam attempts to bury himself deeper in the bed.
"Hum...I am sorry but I can't...I don't want a reward."
