Episode two: Life continues

Cindy's POV

Eighteen months later.

  I can't believe just how fast time flies, so many things I want to do, so many things that needs to be done. But I'm getting there.

  All those who heard of my tragic tale except for the fact I am not a family of Ibara all pitied and stay away from me. And I took such opportunity to be less friendly with people.
  I, who was know to be graceful, classic, interactive and elegant turned out to be a quiet, nerdy back bencher. Same goes at home. I could count the times I've spoken at home and the words. They all give me a weird look which doesn't bother me at all.

  I experienced what is called peace that very moment on the dining table when Ina broke the glorious news.

"Dad. Mom,
I was thinking...
  Maybe it's time I go for my degree... Look at little Cindy of yesterday is now in college and I haven't been to college either!"

I rolled my eyes the moment she called me little. Like Seriously?!
I'll be nineteen by October.

"You remember my high school rival Gloria?!" Her both parent nodded attentively, somehow I crave for such attention.

" I ran into her at some mall I don't remember the name. She told me soon, she'll be rounding up her master's. You need to see the way she boosted. Gosh! I hate that girl."

Mrs Susan especially was so happy about the news. "Finally our daughter agreed to go to college. You don't know how much it saddens me to see you dreaming of wealthy man to marry you and meet all your needs.
I'm glad you came over it.

  I was unable to complete my school since my parents were broke. My sister Roselle was the only educated one in the family and she decided to rub it to our face since she was the wealthy one..."

Though Mrs Roselle was not my mom, I sort of felt bad and angry towards her. She may not the a saint but the least Mrs Susan could do is making mockery of the dead and that's totally not acceptable.

"May her soul rest in peace though" she added in mockery tone.

" But em ... Mother....
I was thinking it's best if I study abroad. Should I study here, the chances of getting a better jobs at those big companies will be hard. But should they see it's abroad - oh my goodness...." She added dramatically causing grin and smug on her parents face.

"Do we have a choice?"  Her mother ask with a smirk

" Can't you say to your sister congratulations?!" Mr Lee said.
I looked up surprised and confused. I thought he never acknowledge my present.

I was shock.
My throat was thick that I couldn't speak, he continues after flashing a quick stare.

" You know you should be grateful to us taking you in as an unwanted addition. Instead of you sitting down looking like a moron, why don't you start showing some appreciation by helping in the house. I have a few dirty clothes in my closet and I'm sure my wife and daughter do have some clothes that needs laundry...
  I want them washed.
After this meal, I expect these dishes bowl wiped out under your care."

With that,
He wiped his mouth before pulling his chair back and left the dining area. Mrs Susan was shock beyond words, Ina smirked viciously.

To be honest I don't know why Mr Lee hostility runs this deep for me. Never have I done anything offending towards him, neither have I trespass anyone coz I avoided everyone including Ina herself.

Today was the day Ina was flying to New York City to begin her programs. Mr Lee gave an excuse , unable to escort Ina to the airport. I have classes by 11am.
Despite being free, I'm sure Ina wouldn't approve my escorting them to the airport and I was reluctant myself. Before leaving she did some little whispering to me since I made no move of bidding her good bye.

" Hey bitch,
Now that I'll be gone for some time, you better stay outta trouble. Enjoy while it last,coz when I'm back,I'll take it all back
I'm in charge." she winked.

I heaved in relief.
Realizing I was alone in the house. The time says quater past 9am. I thought it would be better I began to prepare.
The door bell rings, I answered the door.

"Sir Lee! I called out in surprise.
You're back early."

He gave me a canary look.
Glancing at me from head to toe, over and over again.

" Has my wife return?!" He questioned.
"Oh no.
She hasn't." I said moving aside so he could come in.
The ackward silence keep building. " I can to get a document I left behind." He said, still not moving. I nodded.
   " I'll be in my room then."
I turned, suddenly feel self conscious of myself as I could still feel his gaze piercing my back.

Entering my room,
I shook the feeling and strip off my clothes and went to take my shower.

By now,
Mr Lee should have left since I spent in not up to 30 mins I thought.

Thinking I was alone, I went out of the bathroom without my towel around my body but my wet hair. Usually I don't to go bathroom with towel since I'm alone in my room.

I received the biggest shock of my life on seeing a standing musculine figure staring back at my full nakedness. I immediately turned my back, hurrying, losing the knot I tied on my head, covering my body.

" I... I'm really sorry." I heard him stutter. Shame couldn't let me look him in the eye.

" It's alright.
Why are you here?!" I managed to state clearly after I got back my voice.

I caught him itching the back of his head.
" I wanted to em... Let you know I'm out a.. and you should come down and bolt the em... The door.

I heard they was robbing in the neighborhood in the previous year. So you must be em... Vigilant."

I nodded sharply.
All I want right now is to get rid of him out of my sight.
" I'll take my leave now."
"Okay.
I will be very vigilant as never before..."
" Good."
He turned and leave.

God! I felt my heart breaking...
Mr Lee saw my nakedness!
How would Mrs Susan react if she gets to know?!
I'll be ruined!
I must avoid them all much more worst than before.

Mrs Susan and Ina must never find out what happened today!
