Safe: Free from harm or risk

- Merriam-Webster

What the fuck? What just happened? I sat and stared at Sam. "Wh-why did you do that?" I whispered in shock and confusion. I needed you to focus on something else. I needed you to breathe. I'm sorry if I over stepped, I just didn't know what else to do.

Oh. I nodded before adding, Thank you.

I find it weird; I don't know him, and he doesn't know me, yet I almost feel safe with him and I don't understand why. I've never felt safe before. Just as I thought that I remembered him. Oh god. He's going to be furious. "Hey what's wrong?" Sam says when he notices how panicked I look as I look around searching to see where he is. When I cant see him, I look at Sam and watch as realisation washes over him. "He is gone. I live near here and I heard a scream and called the police He cant bother you again."

I look at him, study him, as I process what he just said. When it finally hits me, I breakdown. Silently sobbing. Sobbing for the pain Ive suffered and for the relief I feel. Sam panics, "Shit! Why you crying?" Whats wrong?

Sam's POV

When she started to cry, I had no idea what to do. Did I do something wrong? All I wanted to do was hold her and tell her she was safe. But I wasn't sure how she would react; I mean she flinched when I tried to stop her from walking so fast, that was the first and last time - other than when I kissed her but that doesnt really count - I tried to touch her.

Fuck it. I slowly and carefully moved to sit next to her. Slowly I wrapped my arms around her and held her. She tensed but after a while she slowly relaxed and gently leaned into me. I felt my shirt get wet, but I didn't care. I just held her and whispered you safe in her ear. Hoping that I was comforting her.

Ever since the first day I saw her, there was something that intrigued me about her. When she didn't speak to me, I wanted to know why. I asked other people, and the theories I got from them were horrible, I knew couldn't be true. They were beyond ridiculous. I asked around to try find out what her name was, but it seemed like no one knew. That made me sad. That was when I decided that I was going to make it my mission to be her friend, even if she never spoke to me.

Eventually, her sobs slowed to sniffles. Slowly she pulled away from me, S-sorry about your shirt, she whispered. Damn she looks so innocent and cute. Ignoring her apology, I ask if she was okay and she nodded. I guess we are back to being silent.

Um, can you tell me your name? Please? I asked.

She looked at me as if she wasnt sure if she really should tell me. Eventually, she whispered, so softly I nearly missed it, "Skye."

"Skye," I tested her name, "that's a beautiful name."

She lowered her head, but I caught the sight of a slight blush but decided against teasing her.
