it had been a few months, and in that few months klaus has his new hybrids who are just lovely and, not to mention that stefan is still crazy—well he was, he had just recently gotten his humanity back. it was jackie's birthday today, but i guess jackie turning 17 isn't on everyone's plate right now.

"it's my birthday, ben, please. just one drink." she said taking a bite out of her sandwich. he rolled his eyes playfully before getting out a coke and rum. "just don't get me fired. happy birthday." he said smirking. "thanks."

she took a sip and took her sandwich and the drink over to the table every one was sitting at, even stefan—who had just gotten his humanity back. "ok everyone, today is a special day." jackie said which everyone looked around confused. caroline hadn't forgot and was disappointed in everyone. jackie started to frown when she felt a hand on top of hers, she looked up to see it was caroline's. "happy birthday jack." she said smiling which made jackie smile too.

stefan was laughing while damon coughed awkwardly. jackie sent a dirty look to stefan which made him raise his hands in defense. "'yeah, um happy birthday'" was heard coming out of her friend's mouths. she looked down smiling sadly before looking back up. "i think i'm just gonna go home," she looked at damon. "can you uh..?" he sat up with a nod and led her to his car.

"i mean i know y'all have been busy with the whole originals stuff, but it still would've been nice if y'all at least remembered." she said softly, taking one of her kittens to the litter box, teaching it how to use it when it needs to go. "listen jack, we love you, we really do, but there is 4 coffins that supposedly have more originals in there, and the fourth one won't even open!" he said sarcastically. "birthday parties are not on our agendas." he said kneeling down next to her.

"yeah, yeah, i get what you mean." she said fake smiling. "good. now let's go, bonnie and her mom are going to go try open whatever's in the fourth coffin." he said patting her shoulder. "damon, i don't wanna go." he looked at her confused, she was usually the one who always wanted to go, to have an adventure. "i know that y'all have important stuff to do, so i'm just gonna spend my birthday by myself." she said standing up and looking at him. "but-"

"it's fine damon, you don't need me. call me after." she said pushing him out the door. she sighed before she took the small cat out of the litter box, satisfied that he had gone poop.

the salvatores ended up not coming home, it was late too, 11pm. jackie had been trying to sleep, but couldn't, she grabbed one of the cats, who she named fred, and took him down the stairs with her, humming a song on her way.

she opened the 2 doors of the fridge, and looked around to see nothing she particularly wanted. "what should i eat, fred?" she stared at the cat who was licking his paw. "i think i'm going crazy, talking to cats, thinking about people i shouldn't, doing nothing on my birthday, should i go on?" she stared blankly at the cat. she decided on grabbing a pickle from the pickle jar.

she closed the fridge door to see klaus behind it. "ahh! oh my god." she said sighing in relief when seeing it was klaus. "hello love." he said. he was oddly chirpy."what are you doing here, klaus?" she said calmly. he was surprised, to say the least, last time they had seen each other—well, she saw him, was when he told stefan to turn his humanity off and kill elena.

"just decided to stop by, wish you happy birthday." he said with his hands behind his back. "at 11:30 at night?" she said teasingly. "i've had a long day." he sighed but smiled softly after.

"i'm guessing whatever was in the fourth coffin, came out?" he nodded sadly placing his hand on the counter beside him. "you know, i'm not supposed to leave, but if you want we could go somewhere?" she said taking a bite of her pickle, then wrapping her lips around it, sucking the juice out.
