"Bianca"
It was cold, so cold
. Why did I feel like I might freeze any second? Oh ya, I'd been walking in the white covered woods for more than three hours in search of civilization.
My dad had left me, there was no doubt about it. He took off down the road half an hour after our car stopped working. He didn't agree with me that if you go across the forest you'll find a town. He'd said that keeping by the road was better.
Now I was freezing had nothing more than my jacket on and it was starting to snow. My pace had gotten slower and I couldn't feel my toes anymore.
"No use going on farther," I said aloud. my breath formed clouds in the frigid air.
Plus I was getting hungry. Tall pines and oaks surrounded me. Their leafless branches covered in a blanket of snow. The forest was beautiful, but at the same time scary. Like I'm-gonna-eat-you scary.
There was one specially tall oak that caught my attention. Its snow covered branches reaching out to form an umbrella shape. Underneath the branches was a clearing, obviously not enough sun could seep out through the leaf covered branches in the spring for anything but grass to grow under them. The tree was old, like a thousand year old.
The mighty oak's trunk had a hallow shape in the middle of it, it looked like termites had gotten in and ate the insides.
I decided that it was safe for me to go in there, at least safer than staying out in the blizzard that had formed in a matter of seconds.
I half ran-half penguin walked my way to the hollow. It was just big enough to fit a petite twelve year old in it. I snuggled in the hole and closed my eyes."I will worry about surviving later, now I'm too... tired.... to think...." I fell into a dream filled sleep.
I was walking, slowly not cold anymore but warm with a cozy feeling seeping through my center.
It took a moment before my eyes adjusted to the intense light coming from inside a hollow.
It took a moment for me to realise that I was in the same forest, the snow had stopped and I could see my lifeless form lying there, I was dead. But how come I could see myself there !?!?!?!?!?.....
"Santo"
I was running, from what I still don't know, I had covered a hundred miles in less than two hours and I was still running, to where I didn't know.
But I was still going, I think I was somewhere near New York. And I was still going dashing by the trees, now a haze of white and brown while I past them.
I was running from my family, my coven. The ones that had trusted their lives to me. The one that had helped me in time of my need.
I had been betrayed.
By my sister. We were twins and after our leader died, she had been unwilling to hand the reigns over to me. Saying that we had equal rights.
I had wanted to let her share the pack of responsibilities, but my coven didn't.
They said that she wasn't level headed and too wild.
But it had cost us the death of my best friend and losing my sister to a neighboring coven.
Nothing had persuaded her to stay.
Now it had been 10 years and I hadn't seen her, I heard from one of my spies that she had found her mate, and was living happily.
But it hadn't been long since she had unleashed an attack on my coven.
But I guess she still hadn't forgiven us
I couldn't believe she had betrayed me. My own sister for god sake. The one that had been with me when we heard of our parent's tragic incident.
The one who had promised to be on my side no matter what. Now she was out for blood, my blood.
I had been running for a while now, normally running this long would have made my blood pound in my ears, thirst would have taken over the best of us, and our lungs wouldn't be able to sustain the constant need for air.
But I had trained for this. Even when I was human I would take runs that lasted for hours at a time, switching between running and walking every time my breathing got out of balance. My dad would joke with me, wondering that I was training for a marathon.
Now I had slowed to a jog. The trees no longer drifting before my eyes as a haze. I got to a patch of oaks. Their many branches covered in a layer of snow. All the oaks were tall , big, and sturdy, probably hundreds of years old. An enormous oak stood in the middle of a clearing. Its branches covered in a blanket of snow. Making the clearing smee enchanted. Like something out of the thousands of fantasy books that I had read.
There was something magical, but at the same time eerily scary about the oak. It seemed empty, devoid of life.
How could this general of a tree, lose its most pathetic battle of its life? It had probably spent years soldiering against an army of thousands of termites. It had lost its battle nobly, though it might topple over any second, it will do so gracefully.
I made my way around to the other side of the tree. I saw a hole in the trunk, but as I looked closer, I saw a figure wrapped lightly in a coat, blonde hair pooled over the shoulders of a girl. A human girl. Her smell was intoxicating, reminding me of pine and sweet pine. MMMmmmm..... delicious.
I approached her, expecting to find her dead. Humans cant bare frigid temperatures. She could have been here for a while, seeing as her footprints had been snowed over. The blizzard had now slowed, causing the snowflakes to fall lightly on the white floor.
The first thoughts that inicitiated in my mind when I first saw her was how thirsty I was, and how good she smelled.
I would be easy making a meal of her now, she was dead, and the cold would mask her scent in an hour or two. I was thirsty and I needed energy to continue my journey.
I walked over o the hollow, crouching down I gently brushed away her light blond hair. My nostrils flared.
Everything was a haze around me and lifted her neck sideways.
I couldn't believe my luck, I had found a beautiful blonde, with intense black orbs and full red lips. Just for an instant I felt a flicker of guilt for the horrid thing I was about to do.
"To hell with it," I muttered.
The last second before I bit down I felt a pulse.
