Lyn thanked Ryuji and head off inside, handing her bag to the maid.
"The master would like to see you in his office."
Lyn rolled her eyes and head upstairs. "Hey, Dad. What's up?"
Her father looked up at her. "I received a notice from the school that you got into a fight with a certain Mr. Christopher Lee today."
"Dad. He was harassing me first. I didn't do anything."
"Hmm. And how am I supposed to believe you?"
Lyn stared at her father. "Really. You think that I would do this?"
"Well... not particularly. But you do realize that Christopher is the CEO's son, right? Try to get along with him better."
"Fine. Whatever Dad. Where's Mom?"
Lyn's father looked down at his papers again. "She's modeling in Paris. She said she'll be back by 9:00 at the latest."
Lyn nodded and head out of the office. She headed to the kitchen, grabbed some fruit off the snack plate, and went into her room. She took out her Biology homework and stared at it, sighing. The problems asking if mosses were direct ancestors of flowering plants weren't in the least bit challenging.
"It's so boring. I already know all of this," she thought. "If only Dad would let me take the SAT," she grumbled. "I just wanna go to college already. Highschool is so... bleh. Isn't that right Baem?"
Baem slithered lazily along her arm, nipping the side of her arm lightly.
"Hey, Baem. Wanna go hunting?"
Baem looked up at her eagerly. "Let's go then, buddy. I got time to kill."
Lyn got out her hunting bag and made sure Baem was coiled securely around her wrist. She quietly opened the big window beside her bed and slung her bag crossed across her chest. She jumped nimbly down onto the rooftop and ran, jumping off the first story onto the grass.
As her feet hit the ground, she felt the familiar rush of adrenaline and thrill of the hunt. "It's go time." She could feel the energy pulsing from Baem coursing through her body.
Lyn ran into the forest, her steps becoming naturally lighter and her movements more fluid. Her tongue licked her lips, tasting the air of the forest. Baem's tongue flickered in and out, his head facing right of Lyn.
Lyn stepped carefully to her right side as she slowly released Baem. She crouched behind a bush, waiting for the right moment.
Baem slithered onto the ground, his head low on the ground, heeding Lyn's every command.
Lyn watched the leaves for movement. As soon as the sound of rustling leaves hit her ear, Baem slid forward and sunk his teeth into the neck of a large brown mouse. Venom flowed out of his fangs and into the animal.
The mouse stopped twitching and lay still on the floor. Baem looked at Lyn, waiting for permission to eat.
"Go on Baem. Your catch, your prize."
The snake opened his mouth and swallowed the mouse whole. Lyn held her arm out and Baem climbed on, wrapping himself in a coil around her wrist.
Lyn checked her watch.
"Damn, I didn't realize it got so late," she thought. Lyn leaped over the logs and ran, relishing in how her muscles burned and how when her feet slapped the ground, she felt a tiny jolt of pain shoot up her leg.
A/N: No, Lyn isn't a masochist... or is she? JKJK.
Lyn climbed up the first story, using the windowsill as leverage. She pushed herself up, pulling the edge of the roof closer to her.
