"Hey, I'm Coraline Wright. But I prefer Cory." She smiled at her classmates as she finished her introduction.

Cory was a stubborn girl who did what she wanted; that is why she thought high school, with all its rules and stereotypes, would be boring. She sighed silently and as the teacher instructed, she took a seat on an empty desk.

'There's two chairs.' She observed,'Probably for group work.' She thought.

As the teacher, Mrs. Goldsworth, was about to say something, the door burst open and in came a ravennete, panting and leaning heavily on the door. "I'm sorry I'm late. I lost my class layout and got lost.", he huffed. "Quite alright, Mr.?", the teacher trailed off in question. "Williams, ma'am, Thomas Williams.", he replied. "Yes well, take a seat, Mr. Williams." He did as he was told and looked for a seat.

I felt a tap against my shoulder and turned. "Excuse me, miss. Can I sit here?", the guy, Thomas said. Gesturing to the seat next to mine. "Sure.", I shrugged and he sat down.

"Now as I was saying, the person you're seated with will be your partner.", she explained, then said,"I will leave you for a moment to familiarize with each other."

Thomas and I locked gazes. He grinned. "So, partners, huh?", he said. "Yeah, I guess." I replied. He held out his hand,"You already know my name, seems only fair I know yours.", he said teasingly, I smiled as I slipped my hand on his,"It's Coraline Wright. Just call me Cory."

He shook my hand firmly and said,"Nice to meet you, Cory, and you can call me Tom." We shared another smile before the teacher started giving a rundown of the school's rules and layout and the normal welcoming speech. While she droned on I glanced back at Tho-no, Tom, and thought,'Maybe highschool won't be so dull afterall.'
