Chapter 14

Lauren's P.O.V
It was finally Thanksgiving, my family and I have been preparing for the party. We've been cooking and decoration all morning and most of the food was done, so I retreated to my old room to get ready for tonight's festivities while my mother and sister entertain my aunts, uncles and cousins that came over early. Normally, we dress causal but we have special guest coming over and I wanted to impress the Cabello's, so I picked out a pare of black dress pants, a red button-up shirt, a pare of red high-top converse and my black leather jacket. I applied minimal make-up and curled my hair before leaving my room before heading downstairs to sit while my other family get ready.

I sat there for a little over an hour, listening to my aunts and uncles' idle talk and to be honest it was boring. I just really can't wait for when Camila to get here, we haven't spent a lot of time together after our little date after her first game, once she was cleared to play she been in the gym and on the court as much as she could while maintaining her studies but I'm not complaining really. It just sucks that I can't get to watch her play, however, I have received a few clips from Hailee and Taylor of Camila playing.

Eventually, my parents and siblings came downstairs to join whatever discussion that was going on and that's when I was getting questioned by my aunts and uncles...Latin family are nosy. I answered their annoying ass questions about school, living away from home and my love life but I was glad when the doorbell rang and I moved quickly to the door because of excitement to see my girl and her family and to get the hell away from my family.

"Welcome to the Jauregui residence." I said opening the door, smiling at Camila and her family. "You're just in time. Please come in."

"We brought a few things." Sinu said holding out a dish of something that smelled wonderful, Camila had a pie and Alejandro held a bottle of wine.

"Aww, thank you but you didn't have to." I said as I gestured for them to follow me and Sofia took me hand. "Will Sierra be joining us?"

"No. She's with Alex and his family." Alejandro said before we stop at the living room.

"Everyone, this is the Cabello family." I said to my aunts, uncles and cousins while my parents and siblings move to greet our guests.

"Sinu, Alejandro, it's great to see again. Come let's get these in the kitchen." My mom said taking the pie from Camila then they went to the kitchen with my parents while Taylor and Chris took Sofia's hand to introduce her to our little cousins.

"Hey." I said turning my attention to my beautiful girl and I finally take in her outfit. She was wearing an olive knit sweater blouse with white skinny jeans that hugged her perfectly and brown suede knee-high boots. Damn my baby looks great.

"Are you done ogling?" Camila asked looking at me with her brows raised.

"I'm sorry, baby." I said wrapping my arming around her waist. "You look beautiful." I leaned in to kiss her but she turned her face causing me to kiss her check instead. "What's wrong?"

"Your family is watching." She said looking over at my aunts and uncles sitting in the living room.

"I don't care." I said pulling her closer and kissed her. At first she resisted but she eventually wrapped her arms around my shoulder as she kissed me back.

"Dinner is ready!" I head my mother call from the kitchen causing Camila and I to pull apart.

I looked back to the living room and saw that my family had left, so I took Camila's hand to escort her to the dining room. There were empty seats next to each other and being a gentlewoman, I pulled out the chair for her to sit beside Sofia then took the other on her left. I noticed that my aunts and uncle's eyes were on Camila and I the whole time, I swear these people never change; ever since I was born they have treated me differently and with everything that had happened when I was a teen, my relationship with them have gone from bad to worse. I just hate their judgmental stares and I know it upsets my parents and siblings just as much as it pisses me off but to have peace in the family at these family events I try not to blow my shit or everything from our past is going to come up and I really don't want that to happen in from of Camila and her family.
