Kyomi slowly awoke from her sleep. She sat up and rubbed her tired eyes. The image of Peter Pan flashed before her eyes. That's right. We swam back to the shore at Castaway Cay. Her heart skipped several beats when she remembered leaning down and nearly kissing him. Heat crept into her cheeks. Then her eyes slowly moved towards Serena who was sitting at the edge of her bedside.
"Why didn't you tell me?" Serena asked.
"I didn't think that you would believe me." Kyomi said pulling back the sheets. "You were so focused on the Ball and everything else, I didn't think you'd care."
"Of course I care, Kyomi." Serena said. "You're my best friend. You can tell me anything. But you didn't tell me and I feel like you don't trust me."
Kyomi paused and clenched the sheets between her hands.
"I do trust you but I wasn't sure how much I was at liberty to talk about this." Kyomi said. "And I didn't mean to put you all in danger."
"Well," Serena sighed. "It was pretty fun. I got a chance to be a mermaid. But what's the use of being smoking hot mermaid when there were no guys around?!"
Kyomi let out a laugh. It seemed Serena was okay with the current situation and willing to go along with the journey. What Kyomi feared was the dangers that lie ahead for everyone. Kyomi's ears perked as she heard some rumble in the other room. She flung the covers from off her and she and Serena headed into the living room. Abner was hurled down in a chair with Jade and the other girls hovering over him.
"All right spill!" Jade demanded. "We want answers! Now!"
"Who are you? Where did you come from?" Beatrix asked. "What are these keys we need to find? How were we able to breath underwater?"
The oncoming onslaught of questions bombarded Abner to the point that it frightened him. He tried to run out of the room but ended up tripping over the rug and disappeared in a cloud of smoke. Kyomi and Serena rushed into the room to find Abner had reverted to his true form.
"What in the world?" Najyaba shouted. Abner looked up at the girls then his eyes shifted to Kyomi. Najyaba turned to face her. "You're kidding right?"
Kyomi walked over to the girls, stooped down and picked Abner up in her hands.
"It's very real." Abner said. "I am Abner, one of the Keepers of the Night."
"Keepers of the Night?" Serena asked.
"Yes." Abner nodded. "I had been trapped for so long but with the power of a wish, Kyomi set me free. And she has been on the quest to help save the Parks from an Evil who's shadow looms over us. She accidentally found one of the seven keys which will unlock the rooms in Cinderella's Castle and you girls helped find the second."
Abner went on to catch up the rest of the girls with the story. Serena sat in a nearby chair and pondered all that was told as she held the seashell key in her hand.
"Okay. So, this key is supposed to open off the rooms in the castle. If that's true, then what exactly are we looking for?"
"Another clue that will lead us to the next key." Abner replied.
"What kind of clue?" Beatrix asked. "You're an elf-thingy. Aren't you supposed to be giving us clues, riddles or hints? That's kind of how this whole thing works!"
"Don't be so hard on him, Beatrix." Kyomi began softly. "Abner has been helpful to me despite the curse limiting his abilities. And what's more disturbing is we don't know the effects of the curse." She paused. "I'm guessing the next answer lies in one of the castle rooms. If we can figure that out, we can find the Blue Fairy and have her repair the seal before it is too late."
