"have a nice day. or don't. i don't care." uncle aizawa said as class ended, obviously more nonchalant than ever.

"hey, amaya!" i heard kiri call my name. i turned while putting my book bag back on, smiling at him.

"why?" bakugou said next to him. i was confused but ignored him.

"wanna come with us to get some food?" he asked. i smiled, nodding.

"and why does she have to say yes?" bakugou commented again, pushing his hands into his pockets.

"sorry for crashing your date."

"what did you just say to me, you dumbass?" he said, the tone a little lower than a yell. kirishima and i couldn't help but giggle at his reaction.

he scoffed as we walked out of the classroom together chatting and laughing. we were almost at the dinner when i realized bakugou was talking to himself behind us. it was under a whisper and he dragged his feet while we walked. i nudged to my red head friend, referencing him to bakugou's behavior.

"he's just had a rough day. which is why i took us to get spicy food. it's his favorite."

"i love spicy food, too. what a coinky dink." i smiled as we walked up the stairs.

when we got our food, katsuki's face did look a little more alleviated as he focused on downing the food.

"and then i told denki that technically with his quirk, he actually should be able to charge the phones. and that's how he became our personal portable charger." kiri laughed, recalling the story.

i giggled as i ate my sushi.

"i'll be right back, i got to use the bathroom." kiri announced to us before wiping his mouth and heading off.

i turned to katsuki who was already staring at me. i smiled at him, "how's your food?"

he nodded at me, indicating it was good.

"well, what did you get?" i asked, stuffing my face with another roll of sushi.

"tantanmen." he replied dryly.

"can i try?"

"no."

"pretty please?"

"will you shut up if i do?"

"probably not."

he rolled his eyes, giving in as he passed me the bowl.

when i took a bite, i immediately felt the flavor and it was so delicious. i let out an mmm as bakugou chuckled. wow, he really is in a better mood.

i took this as an opening, "hey, i heard from kiri that you had a bad day."

his slight smile immediately dropped. uh oh.

"yeah so?"

"i was wondering if you wanna talk about it."

"with you?" he looked me up and down. i let eye contact go.

"um, yeah, maybe. i think i'm a good person to talk to, i could try and help-"

he cut me off, "let's get one thing straight. i don't need anybody's help."

"i wasn't trying to say you did, i was just trying to be nice."

"we're not friends." ouch.

"we could be though." i said, obviously in a sad tone.

"why would i want to be friends with someone like you?"

"what do you mean by that?" i asked, snapping my head at him.

he observed me, almost as if he was hesitant.

"some high horse princess who only got into U.A. for knowing half the staff because her uncle is apart of it."

i didn't know people actually thought that of me. was it people or just him?

"i took the entrance exam with you. i placed number 3 on the first day. i deserve to be here just as much as you do." my voice croaked slightly as my cheeks began to burn.

"you're acting like you weren't already guaranteed a spot. admit it, you think you're better than everybody with your manners and your little kindness act. newsflash: i'm the only one not hypnotized by the fake spell." he spoke louder, gaining the stares of a few people near us. my feet dug into the ground as the table began to rumble softly. his facial expression showed a state of confusion.

"hey, what's going on here?" kiri said, returning from the bathroom. i ignored him as i stood up.

"you know what bakugou? i do think i am better. but only better than you. because i realize people have feelings and take that into consideration. what emotion do you know other then being so prideful that it damages your relationships with everyone around you?" my eyes watered, a few tears rolling down.

and without i began to walk off. before exiting, i heard a scoff, and a then kirishima bombarding him with questions about what just happened.

i continued walking back to the campus dorm rooms, walking through the dorms of the dorm building. when i walked in, uncle aizawa was walking past the door

"amaya? whats wrong?"

i gave him a soft smile as i wiped the tears from my eyes. "it's nothing, really."

"bullshit," he said in disbelief. i widened my eyes at the use of his language. aizawa wasn't one to curse unless he was upset. "who made you cry?"

"can i ask you something?" i asked, trying to avert the attention off of who. i know that uncle aizawa would make bakugou's life harder if he knew what happened.

"anything." he put his hand on my shoulder.

"why did i get into U.A.?"

"...what?"

"why did i-"

"no i heard the question. i'm just baffled that you would ask such a stupid question."

"it's not stupid. did i get in just because i'm your niece?"

"another stupid question?"

"uncle aizawa!" i yelled, tears flooding my eyes again. he sympathized.

"amaya, you specifically refused the option of getting in through recommendation." he paused to wipe a tear from my eyes. "you were the one that insisted on taking the entrance exam. and look, you scored highly, right? nezu, midnight, present mic, everyone agreed that you deserve a chance here. it doesn't matter that you're my niece. i wouldn't let you be here if i didn't think you were ready to be one of the best heroes."

i looked up at him and smiled with my puffy eyes.

"i don't understand why you would say something so stup-" i heard a loud voice behind me as the door opened again. kirishima.

i saw bakugou behind him. he looked at me and seemed like he was about to say something, but decided against it and walked off. kiri came to my side.

"can i talk to her mr. aizawa?"

uncle aizawa nodded, continuing to walk into his office.

"hey ama-" i cut him off.

"it's okay. i'm okay."

he gave me a sympathetic smile, ruffling my hair, "you're always okay. but just remember to come to me the times that you're not."
