first off, thank you SO MUCH for 100k!! i really didn't expect this to get so many reads but here we are 😭😭however, i want to address something more important too, now that this has attention and i can share so where people will see
i am not black, i am not american, but i stand with the black lives matter movement and so should you. i cannot protest, i cannot physically help, but we can all sign the petitions calling for justice of the murder of george floyd and all of the black americans who have been unfairly killed, experienced police brutality, and are treated inferior to white people.
i am sick of seeing people fire back to blm with 'well dont ALL lives matter??'
yes, all lives matter, but that isn't the point of this.
two kids are playing outside. one falls down and scrapes their knee, and one falls out of a tree and breaks their leg. who would be assisted first?
the child with the broken bone, because it is more serious and more help is needed as soon as possible. the other child simply needs to clean the wound. this is how i view this movement.
of course all lives matter, but black lives matter needs more support because poc are the ones who are going through more struggles based on the colour of their skin and their past. we can't have 'all lives matter' before we get actual equality between white people and people of colour. white people do not need this support, the people facing the problems do.
now let's look at something else, another one of my random examples
two women were killed by different people, but in the exact same way. one woman was white, the other black. both killers are found. you'd expect them both to be prosecuted equally, right? their punishment would be exactly the same
only, that isn't right
based on real life examples i've seen, my made up story doesn't end with equal punishments. in fact, the killer of the imaginary white woman was given years in prison, rightfully being removed from the streets to cause any more harm. however, the killer of the other woman was fined a small amount and set free. that's the difference between how black and white people are treated in america. and i've seen that happen.
people are still being killed for standing up for their basic human rights
if you are not signing these petitions after knowing exactly what is going on, i'm sorry to say it but unless you really cannot for some reason, you are most likely racist. because there is no staying neutral in this matter. if you aren't speaking up or supporting those who are being oppressed even in the smallest way possible, then that's siding with the oppressor. you cannot stay silent and neutral about basic human rights that everyone should have and be able to enjoy equally
children are being arrested and abused, innocent people are being falsely accused, killed, kidnapped and abused yet the media is too ignorant to show it. fuck the law, fuck the police. acab for all i care this cant happen any longer
no child should be worrying about being shot for their skin colour
no one should be killed for no real reason other than downright racism
no one should have to feel afraid to step out of their homes
no one
so please look at the carrd i have linked in the comments, it includes links to the petitions, numbers to call and how to make donations to support blm and to help those affected
