"wake up sleepy head," i hear above me. today is the day. he's gonna be gone for two days, and my job is to take care of the house.

i twist and turn and rub my eyes. my eyes open but they shut immediately. the light blinds me so i shield my eyes. patches lays next to me, curled in a ball, slightly snoring.

"turn it offff," i whine.

"get up and i'll turn it off," there's no point in that, when i get up, i'll already be awaken. i groan and just get up, knowing i'll have to do it at some point. i push him out of the way to go to the bathroom, while patches walks with me.

whenever i'm done, i come out and meet clay in the kitchen. he's already eating cereal and on his phone. i decide not to eat because i'm not that hungry. i'll eat when i get back. it takes 20 minutes to get to the airport, i'll be hungry when i get back.

"hurry, i wanna get rid of you," i say sitting down next to him. he looks up and sticks his tongue out. i smile at his childness.

i wait while he eats, watching what he's doing on his phone. he's just scrolling through twitter or texting nick and george. he finishes and puts his bowl in the sink.

we make it to the airport and get out. i don't know if i should wait with him, or leave.

"do you want me to stay with you?" i look at him.

"go get breakfast, i can handle being alone for a little bit."

"you sure you can handle it?" i tease.

"maybe," he struggles to hide his smile. i giggle and hug him. he hugs back and lays his head on mine. we stay like that for a bit. when we separate, i give him a kiss on the cheek and get in the car.
