Being a ghost is kind of boring at first. She is given time by the deities to become accustomed to being dead before they start giving her tasks to complete, but there's not all that much to it.
A lot of it isn't all that far off from what (Name) has seen portrayed in media. She knows she is a lot colder now because others tend to shiver when they pass through or by her. And that's another thing now—she's incorporeal. If she tries really hard and focuses, she can interact with the physical world for a brief moment, but it leaves her feeling like she just did a heavy-duty workout.
How do ghosts even feel tired? She isn't sure, but that's the word that occurs to her when she thinks of describing her state after trying to move a few things around Yagi's room.
(Is that why some things just go missing randomly? Are ghosts just constantly fucking around with humans till they get bored and decide to move on?)
Electricity is easier to interact with, but she knows electrical bills are a bitch to deal with, so she refrains from causing too much trouble for the people who are hosting her.
Or, maybe it could be said that she is haunting them?
Nah. She's just haunting Yagi.
And she's glad it's him because even when she was dying, she could tell he was a good kid, but it becomes more evident when her only job is to follow him around all day. (Name) learns that he's only nine, he's in the third grade right now, and he is the only one in his class who is without a quirk.
Of course, she knows not everyone has one. Quirks are a mark of evolution and genes get weird sometimes so some people end up getting skipped and are rendered quirkless. It happens, and everyone knows that, but being quirkless is becoming rarer with each passing generation and even though it happens, it's still considered 'odd'.
Society doesn't like things that are 'odd', unfortunately, and children are not spared from the worst of it either.
Even when she had been in elementary school herself, kids without quirks used to be picked on. Yagi is a solid sixteen years younger than her, and kids are worse now that quirklessness is a little rarer.
