4 weeks later.
It's my first day of college. I feel nervous yet excited at the fact that I won't see my bullies anymore because unlike them I focused on school work and got accepted to a good college. I wish I didn't care so much about what they thought. Why did I let them get to me? I regret the nights I spent crying over their meaningless words.
I walk into the huge building, the doors open automatically and I enter. The first lesson I have is English. I spend 10 minutes trying to find the right class.
Before I walk in, I flatten down my dress and smooth my hair. My heart is racing and I breathe in and out to calm myself down. There's only 3 other people sitting all spread out. I sit on a desk by myself at the back right at that moment l,the teacher walks in. He has black greying hair and thick rimmed gold glasses and a ridiculous black hat on his head. He sits at his desk with a bored expression. A bunch of people walk in and start filling up the chairs.
I hear a familiar musical voice and see Jay at the door, his friends are with him and their laughing at something he said. "Bye guys." He says as they walk away. He enters and scans the room, his eyes landing on me. He comes and sits next to me. "Hey, I didn't know you'd be coming here." I pray silently over the fact that he is in my class.
"I didn't know you'd be here either." I say, nervously. I notice a few girls staring at us and I start to feel uncomfortable.
Jay opens his mouth to say something but the teacher interrupts him. "My name is Mr. Adams and one by one each of you will have to introduce yourselves and give an interesting fact, you first." He says pointing to a chubby black haired girl. "My name is Anastasia and I'm a dancer."
When it's Jay's turn he says "my name is Jay Smith and I'm a boy." A few people giggle including me. Mr. Adams looks unimpressed. "We are all aware that you are male but thank you for informing us, now give us a real fact." A few people giggle not including me this time.
"Fine, I'm 16 years old." Mr. Adams still looks unimpressed but looks over at me .
"Erm...my name is..." Jay smiles, encouragingly at me.
"Speak up! I can't hear you, put your hand up if you can hear her." He says to the class. Only Jay puts his hand up and I give him a pathetic smile and he reflects it. I feel even more nervous and I know I hate this teacher. I breathe in and raise my voice. "My name is Lynette Jackson and my favourite colour is blue." He nods and goes on to the next person.
"I hate him." Jay whispers
"Me too." I whisper back. Later on, we have to get on with our work and Mr. Adams is on his computer. Jay goes off to talk to Anastasia and she's twirling her hair and laughing at him. I wish I knew what they were talking about. They were very friendly with each other, she stands up and hugs Jay looking directly at me and I look away they must be a couple I think to myself, so why was Jay so friendly with me? urgh, I feel so stupid he can have friends that are girls and I happen to be that friend.
At break I go to the library by myself trying to hide behind the bookshelves. I see Jay and his gang walking in and I try to look natural by pretending to find a book. "LYN!" Jay screams and I cringe due to all the hateful stares. I see him approaching along with his friends. "What are you doing her?" He asks stupidly.
"Oh I don't know maybe searching for a book?" One boy laughs. Another one comes up to stand next to me and I'm below his shoulders. "You're tiny." He Comments, patting my head. "Oh and my name is Jamie I'm no Jay has talked about me before, has he?"
I shake my head and I feel so weird and out of place being surrounded by all these gigantic boys. "Hey, why didn't you tell her about me Jay?" I take the chance to look at him, he is very tall and he has a short blonde quiff and his eyes are hazel coloured. "Well I didn't think you were very important." Jamie punches him softly on the shoulder.
Jay seems to sense my nervousness. "Anyways, her name is Lynette Jackson, why don't you idiots introduce yourselves?" They laugh. The first boy, the one that laughed at me, say's "my name is Andrew Sean." He has short brown hair but has contrasting dark blue eyes and is a bit shorter than Jay.
The next one is huge with brown hair and brown eyes he says "my name is Alex deangelo." He sounds kind of bored and looks interested, I don't think us two will get along very well.
Jamie pushes the last one up to me. "Go on you loser, introduce yourself before Jay kills you." Jay laughs nervously. This boy seems slightly nerdy and doesn't seem to fit with the group and I think I will get along with him. "My name is David justice." He say's quickly backing away from me, he has Browny blonde greasy hair and is wearing thick rimmed glasses. "Let's go outside." Jay suggests.
I don't want to because I feel like I'll just be intruding their group. Jamie suddenly puts his arm around me like we've been friends forever, I tense up and look at Jay. "Don't worry he is gay, otherwise... well nothing but yeah." I stay quite most of the time walking around with them. I get a few weird glances from people and I try not to care.
I'm in the same class as Jay for only English and psychology, at lunch I hang round with Jay and his friends, I didn't want to but Jay wanted me to, so I had to well I didn't have to but I didn't exactly want to go hide in the library by myself again. The last subject we had was psychology and me and him sat together despite his friends wanting to sit with him. "Tom's throwing a party and I was wandering if you wanted to come?" He was looking at me intently.
"When is it?" I ask, unsure.
"Tonight, will you come?"
"I don't know." I admit. He looked so disappointed.
"Please Lynny." Every time he called me Lynny I just wanted to do whatever he wanted.
"Fine, but, only if you take me."
He smiles like an ape. "Of course I'll take you, meet me at Meadow Hill at 6 o'clock and I'll be there." He promises.
