A/N ok so before the story begins imma explain how this au works. When you turn 17 a name appears on your cheek, that name belongs to your soulmate. When it first appears it's black but when you meet your soulmate/see them again if you've already met them it turns their favorite color. Now with the boring stuff out of the way let's get on with the story

Virgil pov

My alarm woke me like always. I ignored it and just snuggled farther into my bed, until I started to get irritated and turn off the alarm. I get out of bed and start getting ready for school. "What day is it?" I mumbled to myself. After I finish getting dressed I go to do my makeup, but I notice something on my cheek as I look in the mirror. That's when I realized what day it was. December 19th, my birthday. See, most people love their birthday, thing is I'm not most people. I hate getting unneeded attention for just existing, it's pointless.

I pick up my foundation so I can make myself look less like a raccoon. I then actually looked at the name on my cheek and dropped my brush, 'Roman Rey'. 'Wonder who that is. Whatever.' I think to myself. I cover up the name and then just sit in my room scrolling through tumblr waiting for Patton and Emile.

After about half an hour Patton texted me that he was heading over so I quickly grabbed my backpack and headed to my sister Cameron's room so we won't be late because of her sleeping through her alarm again. Unsurprisingly she's not even awake yet. I flicker the lights on and off a few times, till she seemingly starts to wake up. "Five more minuets" she groaned. "Patton and Emile are almost here. If you're not ready I'm gonna leave you here" I say. "Fiiine " Cameron mumbles back dragging out the 'i' for too long.

That's when I hear a car horn and I look out the window to see Patton and Emile waiting for us in the 'dad mobile' as we call it. "Camie get your ass down here before I leave you behind." As soon as I yell that Cameron comes running  down the stairs, nearly falling on her face twice. I then open my bag and hand her a poptart. (is it normal to have a snack stash in your bag or am i just being a mom friend again) I calmly walk out of the house and Cameron follows as if she's running for her life.

We get in the van and start talking normally until a certain topic comes up, "Wait, Virgil isn't it your birthday today?" Patton asks. "Yeah" I say quietly. "Who is it" Cameron smirks. "Who's who?" I say , confused. "Your soulmate silly" Emile says in a playful tone. "I'll only tell if Cam promises not to embarrass me about it." I say sheepishly "hey, why just me. why not Patton and Emile" Cameron says sounding slightly annoyed "because Pat and Em wouldn't pester me about it" i say "fair point" Cameron jokes. "I promise I won't" Cameron assures me. "Roman Rey" as soon as I say that Cameron's jaw drops. "I-is something wrong?" I ask nervously. "Nononono nothing's wrong. It's just that your soulmate is the most popular guy at our school. " Cameron says in astonishment. "Doesn't help that i don't like him in the slightest" I say starting to panic. "Come on kiddo, he cant be that bad" Patton says. "Maybe. I don't know."

We eventually arrive at school and go our own separate ways, I try to get to my locker avoiding all human life as much as possible. 'Well shit. That didn't work' I think as someone pours water on my head. I turn around to see Jordan and his friends , Caleb and Greg , my own version of the plastics. They just stand behind me and laugh as the water cascades down my face, melting my makeup but, thankfully, not making my soulmate's name visible. After that Jordan just continues and walks away and the others follow. Not before pushing me down and making me drop all my things. I quickly pick them up, put them in my locker and walk to the nearest bathroom so I can fix my makeup. When I'm done I walk to my next class.

When class ended I went to go find the others in the lunchroom, which wasn't hard because Cameron was practically yelling across the room at me. I walk over to the table to see someone new sitting with us. "Who's this?" I say , pointing at him. "Remy Dormir, and who might you be" he smirks. "Virgil Ansia. Wait Remy Dormir?" I ask. "The one and only." Remy replies. "That must mean, you're Emmie's soulmate aren't you." I mumble. "Yep" he says proudly. I lean over to him and say " You hurt him I murder you. got it?" only loud enough for him to hear. "yes sir" Remy says slightly scared.(definitely didnt do this when one of my best friends started dating someone)

We all start talking loudly as usual so we can hear each other in the loud cafeteria. Turns out Remy's a fellow insomniac with a coffee addiction so we definitely have some things in common. After a while the bell rings so Patton Cameron and I start heading to drama. When we got there the teacher wasn't there yet so we headed to our seats and talked quietly, until Miss Sawyer came in and started class.

About halfway through class she announced that we were doing a school musical, Heathers. "Didn't we do that play already?" someone asked. "Yes but this year there's going to be a twist to the musical. Anyone can try out for any role they want." miss sawyer said in her usual over enthusiastic tone. "What do you mean?" a girl asks her. "I mean anyone can try out for any part. You wanna audition for Veronica? Then do it. What's that? You're a girl and you wanna play ram? I don't care. As long as you guys are having fun i'm fine with whatever" (this is based on my irl music teacher/theater director lol)

"So kiddo, you gonna audition for the play?" Patton asks excitedly. "Maybe. I dunno.'' I say sheepishly. "You should. I've heard you sing before, you're amazing. And you have the range, and definitely the look, to play JD" Emile interjects happily. "Thank you two. Now we gotta figure out where Cameron ran off to" i say as we go to find the chaotic teen.

After we find the gremlin we start walking to Emile's car in silence when Patton suddenly breaks it by gasping excitedly. he goes and whispers something to Emile to which he nods happily. "Hey, how 'bout you guys come hangout at our house after school and we can have a small birthday party for Virgil. Nothing big, just us, Logan and Remy" Emile suggests "That'd be nice, thanks guys" I say in a better mood than earlier "It's no problem. And it's not like our parents'll mind. Heck they they'll probably wanna join us." Patton says. Emile and Patton's parents are pretty laid back when it comes to Cameron and me coming over. Those two are more like parents to Cameron and me than our real ones. "You guys are the best" I mumble. We wait a few minutes for the others to arrive. When they do we all pile into the Dad Mobile™️ and head to Patton and Emile's house.

Just a heads up but dont be expecting two posts in one night if its not a special occasion.  If the quality of writing goes down randomly its probably because I wrote it while half asleep. Fun fact: Cameron is actually based on one of my irl friend Camie aka pineapple (long story).
