Kanao made her way down the hallway while hastily increasing her pace.

A hand lunged out and caught her forearm as she passed by.

"No running in the hallways!"

Aoi held Kanao's forearm firmly before realizing it was her, "Woah, are you okay, Kanao?"

"Yes, I'm fine."

Aoi clasped Kanao's wrist pulling her into a vacant classroom.

Aoi sighed, "Sorry there were some people looking at us, anyways what happened Kanao? You alright?"

"I'm okay."

Frowning, "It's not like you to break school rules." Aoi titled her head.

"Don't worry about me," Kanao smiled.

"That's impossible, we're practically sisters," Aoi scowled.

"Kanao you can trust me," Aoi gently reached a hand onto Kanao's shoulder.

Kanao stayed smiling, refusing to answer.

Aoi huffed, "Fine, be that way."

She walked out of the classroom, slamming the door on her way out.

Kanao sat in the empty classroom by herself, leaning against the window.

The smile on her face drooped before popping back up again.

Suddenly, the door opened again, Kanao veered around, thinking that Aoi had come back.

Instead, there was panting, out of breath Tanjiro to greet her at the door.

"Haah, you're fast."

Tanjiro held up a lunchbox comprising of two sandwiches, he grinned.

"I thought we could share this!"

Kanao kept her unwavering smile.

Tanjiro beckoned for her to sit down at two empty desks and gave her a sandwich which Kanao reluctantly accepted it.

Tanjiro started taking large bites out of his before eyeing Kanao.

"Aren't you gonna eat it Kanao?"

Kanao's eyes glued themselves to the sandwich, wavering.

"It's good!" Tanjiro beamed.

Kanao stared at Tanjiro before staring back at the small sandwich.

Slowly she took a small bite, and Tanjiro's smile seemed to get even wider.

Kanao nibbled on it. It was good, not as good as Aoi's cooking but good.

"Good, right?" Tanjiro grinned happily.

Kanao gave a tiny nod.

"Urokodaki made them for me and Nezuko."

Kanao wondered why he seemed to turn rather melancholy when talking about it.

Her eyes drifted to the stained bandages that were slightly peeking out of his uniform.

Tanjiro noticed her gaze, "Oh! Don't worry I'm fine now!"

Kanao, however, kept flickering her gaze at his abdomen and back up at him.

Tanjiro sheepishly rubbed the back of his head, "Oh well uh, this morning I fell down on my way down the mountain, yeah that's it I fell down the mountain."

If the voice crack and weird choice of words weren't obvious enough, Tanjiro showed a painfully puckered face.

Kanao nodded, dropping the subject.
