You all trek into the dark forest, with nothing illuminating the path except the brief breaks in the trees that allow the moon to seep through.
The pouring rain made the path into a mud hole the thunder rolling resonating deep in your soul you felt an odd feeling surround. It felt something close to static.
Y/N: Shit... EVERYONE MOVE!
You yell just as lightning strikes a few feet away from you. Rose screams and the guys just jump back and close their eyes tight.
Rose: Oh my God, Y/N, are you alright?!
She takes a step forward but you stop her before she gets closer to you.
Y/N: The ground is still charged, be careful.
Rose: How are you still alive after that?
Y/N: No idea.
You slowly stand up straighter and carefully walk over to where it's safe.
Rose: Are you okay?
Everyone just stands there in shock at what they just witnessed.
Y/N: I'm perfectly fine, but let's keep moving.
The five of them begin walking about 6 feet away from you until a few steps into the trip when they huddle behind you again.
Y/N: Don't tell me you're scared of this place?
Rose: What if we are?
Y/N: Not sure, but you don't get over fears by cowering behind the one who isn't afraid.
Rose: Good point.
Elijah: So, How are we supposed to cross the water when we get there? And how are we going to reach it, I guarantee there's going to be a cliff when we reach the coast.
Y/N: We'll figure it out when we get there, in the meantime enjoy the storm and keep walking straight.
Another hour passes and the storm is gone, the ground is still muddy, but the sky is clear and the end of the forest is just ahead. It was and is a silent walk as everyone is just enjoying the comfort of being together still. You somehow got to the back of the pack keeping a sharp eye on everyone in front of you. Amdis was in directly in front of you, Rose was passed out on his back. Henry was silently contemplating and thinking of lord knows what, Elijah was standing tall as if to try and show off his physique for no one in particular. James was leading everyone with his tracking skills. You mind link him.
Y/N: I'm gonna scout the forest to see if anyone or anything is around us, I won't go far but keep finding our way to that ocean.
James nods his head signaling he got the message and you slink into the midnight blue darkness of the forest sniffing the air to see if you could get a whiff of anything out of the ordinary. You get about 500 feet away from the pack when something catches your attention. A hoot of an owl and faint chittering sound putting your nerves on edge and you hear a twig snap making you jump and get on the defense awaiting anything to jump you. Owls hooting, Bats flapping, crickets chirping, leaves rustling, then... silence. Only your small steps on the fallen leaves could be heard, your eyes change color and you can see into the darkness better, and that's when you see it, a tall slender figure hiding amidst the shadows, it was nothing you knew about though.
Y/N: What are you?
You whisper at the figure and that's when it crouches down before charging at you, your eyes go wide and you dodge the figure just in the knick of time, the figure growls searching for you turning its head vigorously before turning around and looking right at you, or so you thought, the figure was still looking around trying to find you and that's when the realization hit this thing can't see. It hunts purely on sound. It faintly growls again and that's when it looks directly at you its face twists and sharp needle-like teeth could now be seen. It charges again and you hop onto a branch with ease and stealth so you could study it more closely. This thing had a thin layer of some shiny film resting atop its black skin casting a slight reflection of the moonlight above.
