Let me tell you a little but about Damon Clarke. He wasn't always the famous heartbreaker of my class, oh no.
Before his fame, he was a nerd.
He came straight out of high school as a scrawny eighteen-year-old, skinny and small. He would get top marks in any test and win every academic competition offered to him.
Until Delaney.
Delaney transferred from a different college in the middle of last year. She was quite stereotypical - blonde hair, green eyes and a hot body that sent the men (if you could call the boys in my class men) wild.
Damon asked her out when he got the chance, in front of everyone in the courtyard.
She said no
She said that he was a skinny loser who only his mum could love. Everyone laughed at him, and Delaney started going out with a muscled kid who took a different class shortly after.
Damon left our school and didn't come back until near the end of the year. When he did come back, he was ripped and cool and everyone wanted to be his friend or date him.
Delaney broke up with her then boyfriend shortly after.
Not only she slid into his bed.
He also abandoned his studies, only staying in school by threatening the teachers, and just became a bad person. Damon would also bully people who were like his former self.
If I needed another reason explain why he was so arrogant and I hated him (which I don't), his dad won the lottery shortly after, depositing him from a shabby apartment building to one of the big houses on the other side of town.
My family had struggled for years to pay off the loan for our house, and then get money so I could go to college, and I find it unfair that someone like him could taunt us from his mansion.
Now he stands in front of me, an arrogant, rich, hot, arrogant, jerk,
Did I mention arrogant?
I yelped in surprise, stumbling backwards in an attempt to get away from him.
"What are YOU doing here?!" I shrieked, "get out!"
He stared at me in disgust. I know that I look like hell warmed up right now, but I am more than my looks.
"I asked you a question!"
"Who are you? He asked, still looking at me.
"I happen to be the person who is staying here for the next month! Maybe you didn't recognise me because I am one of the only girls who hasn't sucked your dick before! Oh, wait, you probably don't recognise them either."
Damon stared at me, shocked.
I pushed past him into the bedroom, only to be met with an entirely unpacked suitcase.
Horror settled into me and I slowly turned to face him, colour rising into my face.
"You- You're staying here?" No- no, there has to be a mistake-" I garbled to myself, pushing past him again and running to the front door.
I threw myself into one of the chairs on the balcony and tried to take deep breaths to calm myself down.
Milly would fix this. She would.
*
"What do you mean, you can't fix this?" I yelled, towering over the cowering Milly, "I'm not listening to intense love-making in my house for a month!"
"All of the houses are full, and nobody is wiling to move out again! Suck it up, buttercup!"
I groaned and slowly walked back to the house. Maybe we could be friends, but if first impressions matter, then that won't happen.
I pounded on the door until the frowning Damon let me in and threw my suitcases onto my bed.
The exposed bed that sat right in the kitchen.
I wanted to curl up in a little ball and scream because of my bad luck. Why do I always have bad luck? The front door opened and closed again, and I could've sworn that I heard the giggly voice of a girl.
No way, nope, he is not bringing a girl into this house.
I pounded on his door, only to be met with moans from inside.
Ew.
I pulled myself together and went to the kitchen to calm myself down. The cupboards were stocked full of food and I made some instant noodles to enjoy the sunset.
My first day has gone by so fast, but I already wanted to go home.
I plugged in my headphones to block out the sinful sounds coming from the room and sat outside.
If I looked far enough, some white birds were flying through the valley.
I enjoyed my meal and went to bed.
