I opened my eyes to see bright sunlight, as usual, streaming into the room. It pierced my eyes, but in the best way possible. I looked down at my skin and soon realized that most of my body was green. Soon enough, I'd be entirely green and I still had no idea how to break the damn curse.

I felt a hand run through my hair gently and I gazed up at the dark-haired girl who took up most of my thoughts. She gave me a sweet smile, reminding me of how wonderful last night was with her. I nuzzled deeper into her chest, running my fingers along her collarbones.

"Good morning, princess," Jisoo said.

"Good morning, witch," I said back.

My lips met hers for only a moment, but a precious one nonetheless. Her giggle echoed across the room, making me smile. I loved seeing her in this light. I wished that I could always wake up to see her smiling face every morning. But I knew that I would have to return to the castle soon. I'd probably be ridiculed or kicked out and I couldn't face either of those fates.

"You okay?" Jisoo asked, sensing my apprehensiveness.

I nodded. "Yeah, it's just that today is the last day. I don't think I'm going to find a way out of this curse, Jisoo. I've accepted it. But can you do something for me?"

"Anything."

"Don't tell me how to break the curse," I said seriously. "I'll just feel a lot of regret if you do."

"Then I won't." She kissed the top of my hand and held it to her heart.

Just then, we heard the sounds of people walking around the bushes. Jisoo put a finger over her mouth as she carefully evaluated who it was. The voices seemed to be male, but I wasn't exactly sure. Some women have deeper voices. Like Jisoo, for instance.

"Oh, witchy?" One of the men cooed. "Come out, come out, wherever you are."

Jisoo held me close to her chest as if she was afraid that the men out there would steal me. Like that would happen. There was a bonus to having green skin. Unwanted people don't want to touch you. Jisoo got up and pulled on her cloak.

"They found me," she whispered.

"Who?" I whispered back.

"The witch hunters." Now she was the one who was apprehensive. "It sounds like there are more of them too."

"What'll they do?" I asked.

"They'll try to kill me, like they always do."

"Do you think you can handle them?"

"I sure as hell hope so," she said. "Stay here. I don't want you getting hurt."

As much as I wanted to protest, I didn't have the energy to. Instead, I walked to the window where I could see it all happen. Jisoo walked out to the hunters, who were all middle aged men with smug looks on their faces. They all looked like lumberjacks too with their excessive usage of plaid.

A bright flash of purple came out of Jisoo's hands, knocking them backwards. She ran off to a good hiding spot behind a rock before they could get back up. The men yelled out a variety of curse words, ones that I would never repeat in my life. That's when I realized something.

They had guns.

They could kill her with just one bullet. I shivered, but not from the cold. I looked in the mirror to see that almost all of me was green. I had no time to break the curse, but I could do one thing.

I could save Jisoo.

I slowly inched out from behind the witch hunters, who were too busy trying to find Jisoo to even notice me. A malicious smile came to my lips. My fingers curled around one of the witch hunters' pistols as I pulled it out. I had never handled a gun before, but I figured it wouldn't be too hard. I held it up to where I could hit them with one pull of the trigger.
