Weird
Freaky
Crazy
People would give me those comments on an almost-daily basis for years because I was different from everybody else. My hair was always dyed a different color. Just like those mood necklaces or bracelets you see in stores where a color shows how you're feeling, I dyed my hair a certain color based on my mood. My mum gave me her mood ring when she found out that the color I dyed my hair was selected based on how I felt.
My hair was naturally blonde. I first thought about changing it when I was about sixteen years old. I would see pictures of people on the Internet with their hair dyed a unique color and wondered what I would look like with my hair dyed that same color.
I dyed my hair dark brown when I was fifteen. It took a while for me to get used to my hair not being blonde, but I grew to love it.
It was not until I started dying my hair more often that I began to get bullied. I liked to dye my hair; it was a way to express myself. I dyed my hair a dark blue color to represent sadness.
Nobody understood, and I thought nobody would ever understand. Then I met somebody who did.
