Mommy Dearest

"Barry, we've been through stuff like this before."

It was late evening as Caitlin gently confided in Barry who gave her run down over the recent events that she and Frost had missed over the course few days.

"Don't worry. You're gonna find a way to stop Eva and get Iris back."

Though still worry, despite Caitlin pure reassurance and utter confidence in him , Barry still ran a hand through his hair in frustration.

" I can't even be frustrated without... " Barry frailed his arms showing how overwhelmed he was with emotions while glancing to his tracker with a sigh. "Without losing more of it."

Caitlin looked to him, she had seen him this way many times when he felt defeated. She sighed, they haven't lost the round yet though and Barry was never a quitter to her.

"Maybe instead of focusing on what you've lost, "

She began thoughtfully before cutting him knowing a look.

"You should try remembering what you'll never lose." She told him gently, knowing she was getting to him as he finally looked her way. "The reason you've beat Zoom, Godspeed, Thawne? It's because speed isn't what drives you," She told him not speaking of a doctor but as a friend. For years she'd seen Barry do the impossible, be the impossible with and without his speed and one thing always helped him get there " It's love. That's your true force, and there is nothing artificial about that. So as long as you stay true to yourself, you will always find a way to beat the bad guys, "

Ahem.

"And gals. " Caitlin agreed, adding after thought.

Giving a soft crooked smile, Caitlin felt herself tear up as Barry finally murmured. "I'm gonna miss you." Leaning towards her giving a warm embrace.

" I'll be back before you know it. " Caitlin promised hugging him back equally tight.

Just like he was going to miss her, She was going to miss him. All of them. Her teammates, her family.  Thinking of all the years spent a knock soon came to her door followed by a single and a click. Something that would've been alarming if it weren't for the key. Pulling away, Barry and Caitlin turned as her mother entered.

"All set?" Carla asked Caitlin who nodded as Barry helped her stand. "Car's downstairs." She them then turned to Barry with a warm smile.

" I promise I'll get these two back to you and your team as soon as possible. "

" - Thanks." Barry smiled awkwardly remember the last few encounters they had.

"- Yeah." She nodded also seemingly out of place before grabbing Caitlin's belongings. "Okay."

Caitlin sighed softly at her mother but went to follow nonetheless when Barry tapped her shoulder halting her back." Hey, um... Frost can hear me, too, right?

Caitlin nodded, "As long as she's awake." She said feeling her alter ego occasionally slip in and out despite her earlier vocal approach. Something that was still going on as Frost suddenly invaded her mind once more.

I'm awake! Really!

"Go ahead." Caitlin chuckled to Barry amused.

"Just get better...., And hurry back. We still have a whitewater rafting trip to take." He reminded to Frost whom Caitlin could feel practically radiating inside with happiness at the reminder and plan.

I'm holding you to that!

"She says she can't wait." Caitlin relayed the message with a grin that soon turned serious frown seeing that her time was was up.

She swallowed thickly realizing this would be the last time they'd see each other until they were better. With a nod of many forms of , -goodbye, -thank you, -this isn't the end, -see you later. Caitlin finally let her feet drag her over to Carla only to stop once she reached to the door.

She looked back to Barry who seemed just as distraught as she was. She gave him one more smile in reassurance for him and for her.

"Tell the team I miss them already, K?" She asked in a small wavered voice, relief then washing over her as Barry nodded.

"I will."

With a bob of her own, Caitlin finally let Carla take her out of the apartment refusing to look back. Fearing she might not leave. Stepping out of her building and towards the car,

Caitlin suddenly yelped as a sudden sharp pain was stuck in her neck.

Clutching it in utter surprise, Caitlin looked towards her mother in shock. Only to find emotionless icy blue eyes peering back at hee. A small syringe in Carla's hand as a group of  suited men trailed behind her.

"Wha...? No.."

Caitlin questioned or at least she hoped as her words slurred. She tried to search deep for her other half but even Frost herself was feeling the effects quicker than her leading Caitlin to fear. Especially at the lost of connection to her stronger half.

And as the affect finally took it's hold, the last thing Caitlin heard through the haze was Carla Tanhouser's stone cold voice voice.

"Better you than I."

"Oh my God..You did it! You found him!"

Kamilla shouted with glee that Iris had found David. However she noticed something wrong as Iris suddenly became unfocused gazing past her.

"Iris?" She wondered this time concerned and jumped to her feet as Iris began hyperventilating.

"Iris!?"

Feeling like she was getting torn into pieces, Iris couldn't answer. All she could do was scream at the shearing pain pulsing it's way through her. She gripped the sides of her head where it mostly hurt just wanting it to stop as she then felt herself being pulled and push when suddenly it stopped causing her to fall onto the ground hard. Getting the wind knocked out of her.

"Holy.."

A new voice exclaimed and not a second later Iris was carefully brought to her feet with the help of Kamilla.

As the ache began to fade leaving nothing but a dull pinch. Iris was finally able to focus coming face to face with the scruffy persona of,

"Oh My God.... Singh?"
