As she is waiting for Jade to arrive, Perrie has no idea what to expect. She has had a crush on Jade for a long time now, but it was never anything Perrie imagined that would be fulfilled in any way. Up until yesterday, she wasn't even sure if Jade knew her name, yet today, they will be hanging out, just the two of them. Perrie put some extra effort into her outfit today in order to make sure she looks at her best. She knows it's no use, because Jade is taken, but just had to do it. She is nervous and excited, and mostly curious to get to know Jade better. Time feels like forever one second, then passing at the speed of light the next, since Perrie is so stressed out about seeing Jade, but she is also impatiently looking forward to it. Suddenly, the girl she has been dreaming of for the longest time walks out of the school and straight to Perrie while wearing a wide smile.
"Hi, Perrie," Jade says and pulls her into an unexpected embrace. Perrie wasn't ready, so she's almost holding her breath as Jade's body is pressed onto hers, and only remembers to reply when they let go.
"Hey," she awkwardly tells Jade.
"How was the quiz?" Jade refers to the one they had today in English class.
"Um, not so good," Perrie replies and laughs. The quiz was about that poem that Jade used as an excuse to talk to Perrie, and Perrie hasn't been paying attention to in class. "I'm never really listening in English and I haven't prepared at all so I just read the poem and answered what I think is true. Not sure Miss Evans is going to agree with me though. And you? Wait, you probably nailed it, I don't even know why I'm asking," she continues and smiles as the tension begins to fade.
"It was pretty hard actually, I'm not sure I did so well," Jade answers and scrunches up her nose.
"You're going to be just fine," Perrie assures Jade. "So, about the prom. Can I ask what you will be wearing?"
"Yeah, of course!" Jade quickly agrees and pulls out her phone. While she searches for the photo, Perrie is anxiously waiting. She never got to talk to Jade properly before yesterday, so that intense crush she has is mostly based on how truly stunning Jade is. Perrie knows that no matter what dress is going to be in that picture, she is going to absolutely love it. In her eyes, Jade is the one person who can look breathtakingly beautiful doing, and wearing, just about anything. "Okay, so this is it," Jade says and finally hands Perrie her phone. Perrie's hands are a bit weak as she takes it, and sees a red dress made of silk, with a split on its left side. She is even not sure how she's going to handle seeing Jade wearing that. "I think that if you swipe left, there's a picture of it from the back," Jade informs Perrie, and she wants to see the other photo, but she is not exactly thinking straight right now, and accidentally swipes right. She finds a photo of Jed kissing Jade's lips, both dressed in their pajamas and looking like they were having fun. Perrie feels like she has invaded a part of Jade's life she never had the right to be a part of, and immediately swipes two photos to the left. She takes a quick look at the second photo of dress, then swiftly hands Jade's phone back to her.
"It's beautiful," she says, and every bit of confidence she had earned talking to Jade is now gone. Her heart stings with jealousy, even though she knows that's there's no way she could ever compete with Jed. "Can I ask you something?" She hesitantly tells Jade, who nods in response. "I hope you don't take this the wrong way, but, your boyfriend is okay with all of this happening, right?" She points her finger back and forth between Jade and her. "I mean, obviously it's nothing like that, but he knows you're going to go to prom with me, right?"
"He's got absolutely no problem with it, I can promise you that. So don't worry," Jade tries to calm her down, then changes the subject because she doesn't want to talk about Jed, especially not with Perrie. "What will you be wearing to prom?"
