prison can change people.
not me. but people.

THE FIRST TIME RHIANNON FLETCHER SAW HIM WAS AT THE BONEYARD, HOLDING a gun to Topper Thornton's head. She was in the back of the crowd, leaning against a palm tree with a beer in hand and frowning at the commotion unraveling before her. Stupid, she had thought. Getting involved in a brawl that really, technically, had nothing to do with him. Bringing a gun into the matter though, was something else entirely. Reckless and stupid.

The second time she had seen him was at the Kook's big fancy party. She had seen him twice that night. The first: she had heard one of the boys yelling in their locker room—should she even call it that?—when she was on the way to get more drinks. She had been a waiter that night, trying to sneak in and grab anything she could while the Kooks were so busy focusing on themselves that they wouldn't notice the crystal ransacked from their kitchen or the gold earrings missing from their bedside counters. Apparently, this boy had the same idea. When she had peered around the corner and into the bathroom, she had counted five boys in total. Three standing in front of the other two, where one was standing behind the other, restraining the blonde's movement by pulling his arms behind his back. She was tempted to leave him be, get on with her business and not cause something that she most likely could not keep under control. She shouldn't get involved, it really did have nothing to do with here. But seeing fist after fist colliding with the boy's face—though he may have deserved for reasons she couldn't quite fathom—she didn't fail to tap on the closest security guard's shoulder and tell him that some stupid boys were doing coke in the bathroom. She knew telling him the truth would get nowhere; why would someone of his status care for a Pogue? But to her delight, he had nodded and taken off quicker than she anticipated.

The second time she had seen him that night—and probably her favourite of their encounters—was him throwing plates of food and drinks onto the ground when he sprinted past them, kicking up a tantrum as—most likely the same security guard she had set onto him—chased him in zigzags through the party. She didn't quite know why he was being chased, nor did she particularly care, but the words he had yelled proudly to the party goers didn't fail to place a smile on her face. She had never been more thankful for him in her life. Not because it was just highly amusing to watch as all the Kooks scrambled around like lost children, but because he had created enough of a distraction that she had gone up to at least 10 Kooks and robbed them blind. She had come out with several wallets, watches, jewellery, credit cards, dollar bills and to her surprise, diamond rings that she could fawn off to the pawn shop for at least a couple of hundred.

And now, the fourth time she had seen him: hands bent behind his back, face slammed onto the Serif's counter and blood staining his smiling teeth. From behind the bars, Rhiannon could only see through the smallest gap in the door to where this boy was currently being held. The room she was in was lit up by a dim yellow light that almost flickered on the ceiling above and the white sunshine pouring in through the door's gap was heavenly. When she had heard movement from beyond the door, she had moved, mainly expecting to see Carter there so she can finally be bailed out. She couldn't say she was surprised to see this boy instead considering that every time she's run into him, he's either doing something incredibly illegal or in a bloody fight.
