Azur Lane:A Quiet Life

Chapter 4

0800 hour

"Argh,I'm late for roll-call," Oliver thought to himself and jumped out of bed."Wait a minute,I'm no longer in the army," he realized before getting back."A few minutes wouldn't do any harm,".He was about to get some shut eye when suddenly there was a knock on the door."Who could it be at this time.It must be Mrs.Hamilton," He murmured and get off his bed

Just before he could hold the doorknob,a voice yelled out."Commander,wake up!Everybody going to be ready,".Oliver opened the door and saw Z23."You're not...." he said before stopping."So it wasn't a dream,"."What are you blabbering about,commander?Hurry up!".

"Give me a few minutes to prepare,".Oliver said before closing the door."So,its real," Oliver said before getting his personal belonging and went to the bathroom.After getting changed,he wore his casual clothes.Like hell he would wear his uniform.

After leaving his quarters,he traced his way back to the infirmary.There,he found a girl with green hair and  an oversized shirt.He went in and patted the girl's shoulder to get her attention.The girl turned around to face Oliver.

"Oh,you're the Othe...Comnyander," she spoke."Follow me,I'll show you where to meet everybody," she wave her hand,gesturing Oliver to follow her.After a while,they ended up in a meeting room.In there was Z23,Hood and another girl with twintail tied up with rabbit ear clipping.Both Oliver and the green haired girl sat down on the many chair available in the room.

It was a moment of silent before Z23 starts up."Most of here already know about the new commander,but didn't get to meet him face to face.Could you introduce yourself,commander?"

"Please don't call me commander.I don't deserve it.My name is Oliver Cunningham.Call me Ollie for short.I'll be in your care."Oliver replied."I've known Hood and Z23.How about you two?"He continued,pointing at the bunny girl and green haired girl."That's Laffey and Akashi," Z23 introduced them respectively. 

"Say Oliver,you fixed the electricity last night didn't you?" Hood asked."Well,yes.And something else,could anyone show me around the base?"

"I will,now follow me," Akashi said,gesturing Oliver to follow her.As Oliver expected,it looks exactly like the naval base he'd been as there were the headquarter,comm centre,dorm,infirmary,mess hall and even an airstrip.There were a bit difference,however,such as a shop and two small buildings Akashi said were 'coin merchant' and 'oil canteen'.There were also little chickens?Ducks? around the place which were called Manjuus.

"Akashi,what was the function of the base before?" Oliver asked."It used to housed the first Azur Lane federation during the first Siren war." Akashi responded."What was the Azur Lane federation and Sirens?" Oliver asked again."That's a story only Hood could tell," was the answer to his question.

They later went to the mess hall to have lunch.Oliver would have to know more about this weird world he got transported to.With the whole team at the mess hall,it wasn't much of a problem.

"So,what can you tell me about this world and what are the 'Azur Lane' and what are 'Sirens'?"

The girls look at each other,nodded and look back at Oliver.

"This world mainly consist of medium or small islands,almost like an archipelago occupied by different faction." Z23 explained.

"To understand what is the Azur Lane,you must know about the Sirens.Sirens are extraterrestial being from another place,with superior numbers and technology.They attacked us but we managed to push them back through the formation of the Azur Lane.It is a formation of each faction best fighter.However,with better technology,they took some of us down." Hood opened up.

"What happened next?"

"Internal conflict caused it to disband.Each faction set up their own territory,avoiding each other.Then the Sirens came back,once again creating havoc.We need help defeating them so that's why you're here." Hood added.

"Wait,why was I'm here again?"

"Since you are not from any faction,this will prevent any feeling of unbalanced in command or bias."

"Makes sense.Now regards of the faction,can I have information on every one of them?"

"There are major factions that are the Eagle Union,Royal Navy,Sakura Empire and Ironblood.Minor factions consists of the Sardegna Empire,Northern Parliament,Eastern Radiance,Iris Libre and Vichya Dominion."

Inside Oliver's head he could piece together the equivalent in the other world.He was faced with a huge task.Getting a broken up fighting force to fight an enemy with superiority in every factor.

"Are you up for the task,commander?" Hood asked."There's only one way to find out." Oliver replied.

"What's our first operation,commander?

A/N:I'm terribly sorry for the long pause.Online class keep pouring in like no tomorrow.Now I understand what the French felt at Verdun.Anyway,watch out for the next chapter.
