Ch. 14: Second Chance

❤ Caitlyn's POV ❤

I sat on my bed, my back against the wall. I was you know...probably crying again. Maddy knew about it...Mom and Dad too. Actually though, I didn't want my parents to know because they might end up hating Connor...and I wouldn't want that. But surprisingly they were calm and understanding. They even told me that both of us still have a chance because the previous conflict was a misunderstanding. We just had to clear things up. I wish I was as wise as my parents- they're amazing.

Then I thought that I shouldn't just sit around, so I put on a cardigan and went out for a walk. I called Brooke and asked if we could have a chat. She fortunately agreed to meet in the park. When I got there, I sat on a bench. A few minutes later, someone sat beside me. "What's up girl?" Brooke grinned.

I sighed. "I made a big mistake."

Brooke leaned closer. "Go on."

"C-Connor...um, he asked me out but..." And then I told her about our conversation as exactly as possible.

"Aaah..." Brooke nodded. "But rest assured. We really don't have a thing. Do you and Riley...?"

"No." I immediately said.

"Ok. It's the other way around. I'm the one who liked Riley. Anyway, tell me. Feelings for Connor?"

"Whoa I never knew. But feelings for Connor are still here."

"What did your parents say?"

I slightly smiled. "We both still have a second chance."

"I agree. You guys can still fix this."

"I just don't know where I went wrong."

"Nowhere. It wasn't your fault. You were trying to think things through- you're a sensible person. You're not impulsive." Brooke smiled. "It's not exactly Connor's fault, but he reacted...irrationally. It was an unnecessary reaction, but I'm not blaming him."

"Neither am I. He was probably just...you know..." I said.

Brooke continued. "He was probably just trying to process things as well. Connor's a mature guy, but he's at that point in life where...emotions get the best of him. Don't hate him though."

"I never will." I slightly giggled.

"Good. 'Cause they're performing at the Radio Disney Holiday Concert thing...and I have three tickets. You, me and Mads."  Brooke smirked.

"Alright."

"I'll pick you guys up at around say...7?"

"Ok." I hugged her. "Thanks for the chat."

"Anytime." she grinned and hugged back.

After, we both left. I told my family about the concert, and Maddy was flipping...or rolling around. An hour before 7, I got ready. I just wore a black skater dress with a brown belt. I hardly wear makeup, so I just put my favorite winged eyeliner and waited for Maddy downstairs. After probably 20 minutes, she came down wearing a white skater dress. "Wow." I grinned.

"Wow to you too." My sister chuckled.

We waited...and then Brooke arrived. We said bye to our parents, and Mads and I slipped on my boots and went with Brooke. She then drove to the venue.

Here we go...

❤ Connor's POV ❤

I paced around in the backstage...Brooke informed me that she.successfully brought Caitlyn with her. And let's not forget that Riley hasn't talked to me since he found out about Cait and my argument. "Con, look...about Caitlyn..." Riley suddenly said. "I didn't mean for this misunderstanding to happen."

I smiled. "Hey bro. You've got nothing to do with it. I assumed to quickly. It's more of my fault."

"You sure?"

"You feeling guilty? What for? Relax." I put one arm around my brother's shoulder. "It's clearly not your fault."

"Ok...and you relax too." Riley smirked afterwards. He's back to normal.

Toby added. "Yeah. Show Cait you want a second chance. Well technically, you're hinting that you want one."

"Ok, thanks." I chuckled.

My brothers are so supportive. Whoo. And so are my parents. I told them about it too...and they gave me advice.

A few minutes later, James told us to get ready, so Riley grabbed a microphone while Toby and I got our guitars. I was using the all-black one...it was Caitlyn's favorite from my guitars after all. Then James announced: It's showtime.

3...2...1-  and there we went outside. The shouts were as loud as always, and it made us all smile, when I spotted Brooke and the rest. Maddy was busy looking at Toby. I sent a small smile at Cait, and she returned it. Then Brooke mouthed something like "you can do it". Yeah thanks Brooke.

And then Riley told the crowd we'd be doing Dangerous first. So the concert began, and we started singing.

I really love Caitlyn. Will she give me a second chance?

❤ Brooke's POV ❤

I loved this. I always loved watching these dorks play. I'm glad I dragged Caitlyn. This is important for two troubled lovebirds.

What was the plan? Simple. Connor wanted a second chance, and Caitlyn was willing to try again. The boy's told me that they'd be performing a cover of Amnesia. You know the lyrics...so Riley thought that Connor could sing one of the parts indirectly to Cait as if he's trying to send a message to her. Pretty cool idea though, Ri.

Those two really liked each other...Con and Cait. I could see it. I wasn't the only one. Toby and Riley saw it too. I'm sure Maddy herself knew- Cait was her sister after all.

I looked at Cait- the direction where she was looking was at Connor, and he would glance at her every now and then. There's a spark of hope.

❤ Connor's POV ❤

She'd look at me...I'd look at her. Was it 'cause she had a grudge, or did we want the same thing? Either way, Riley signalled for us to start performing a cover of Amnesia. I sang my parts. "The pictures that you sent me they're still living in my phone, I'll admit I like to see them, I'll admit I feel alone. And all my friends keep asking why I'm not around."

After, I made a quick glance at Cait. She was looking down. And then Riley and Toby sang their parts, then me again. "If today I woke up with you right beside me, like all of this was just some twisted dream, I'd hold you closer than I ever did before and you'd never slip away and you'd never hear me say."

This time she was looking at me. Then after my bros' parts, the song came close to an end with me. "Tell me this is just a dream 'cause I'm really not fine at all."

The crowd cheered on once again, fan girls shouting- even Brooke and Maddy. Caitlyn...she just looked at me with glassy eyes and a hardly visible, small smile.

I'm really not fine...there's one more stage to this plan- talk to her again.
