"Thank you so much for your help, Chloe," the woman, Julie, that I had just checked out at my job in urban outfitters said.
"Oh it was really no problem, Julie!" I replied giving her a large, fake smile. I had been putting on a lot of those lately. I was mostly worried about my finals. I would be getting my results in like 2 days.
But there is apart of me that doesn't want to admit the fact that this is about Drew never actually giving me a call. But it had only been 2 days since the game.
"Alrighty then, fine I won't keep saying it but I owe you," she repeated. I gave her another one of those smiles and handed her her check.
"Okay whatever you say," I said and with that she turned around and walked out of the front doors. There was no one else in line so I sat back in the small chair and pulled out my phone. When I turned it on, I saw I had a notification from an unknown number.
Curious, I typed in my password and went to see who the unknown person was.
'Hey Chloe! It's Drew! Sorry I didn't text you earlier. I was a little busy with my make up finals. text me back when you get this. I was wondering if you wanted to meet up sometime this week'
Oh my god! He actually texted me! I thought he would never text me because I was annoying or something. I mean that's what normally happens. I quickly thought of a witty reply.
'Oh hey Drew! I thought you forgot about me for a little while there. And yeah I'd love to meet up sometime! When are you free?'
I hit the off button on my phone. Even though I wanted to sit there and wait for his reply. But I was working and I didn't get off for another hour so it would have to wait. I walked back over to the cash register and started to ring up the next customer items.
"Credit or debit," I asked the customer in between my train of thought. I wonder what we are going to do. Are we going to like go to a coffee shop or just like walk around some where. What would we do?
I waved bye to the customer, just as I heard my phone ring. I went over and pulled it out of my purse. I slide the answer button and put the phone up to my ear.
"Hello," I spoke into the phone.
"Hey, Chloe. It's Drew," drew replied.
"Oh Hey Drew. What's up?"
"Well I was wondering if--if um... You would UH... Want to meet up for uh coffee?" I could tell he was nervous, but little did he know he didn't need to be.
And even though there was no doubt in my mind that I wanted to go I couldn't get the words out of my mouth.
"You-you don't have to say yes if you don't want to... I mean--" I cut him off. Finally growing a pair.
"Drew, I would love to go," I said. I could hear him sigh through the phone.
"Okay good. that would have been really embarrassing," I heard him laugh.
"Yeah but lucky for you I said yes," I replied laughing as well. But my smile dropped when I saw a customer walking up, but knowing the rules, I then switched it to a large smile. "But hey I'm at work, but I get off in a hour. Talk to you then?"
"Oh yeah I'm sorry. I should have warned you that I would be calling," he said. "Call me after you get off?"
"Yeah of course. Talk to you then." He mumbled a goodbye before I hung up and gave my attention to the customer.
But this time, the smile wasn't fake.
