Chapter 3

Shaun's POV

Kakauwi lang namin ni dad from the Dalante's company at dumiretso na ako agad sa kwarto ko at nahiga. I don't usually stay here cuz I have my own place. Minsan lang ako nandito, kapag kailangan na talaga and today my dad won't stop bugging me with the fact that he wants me married with this girl I don't even know the name of.

That reminds me, I have to call Zeus to ask about my supposed to be fiancé.

Pinulot ko ang cellphone ko at dinial agad ang number ni Zeus.

Zeus is my best bud. Even if sometimes he could be a total ass, I still consider him my brother. He is currently handling his family's company and he is a great partner of ours.

"Oh ano nanaman inday?" Pabungad niya sakin. Kahit kailan talaga gago to.

"I have a question."

"Ano ba yun at kailangan mo pang istorbohin ang meeting ko."

"Do you know the daughter of the Dalante family?"

"Hmmmmm... no."

"Akala ko ba kila-" pinutol niya ko sa pagsasalita

"I don't know her personally but I do know that she isn't known by almost everyone. Baka hindi siya masyadong active sa business nila. Bakit mo natanong? Type mo nuh??" He suddenly started teasing me.

"Tss. Impossible. That's all bye."

"Pero-" hindi ko na siya pinatapos at pinatay ko na ang tawag.

I hate it when he teases me. It's very annoying.

Napatingin ako sa pinto ng may kumatok. At di nagtagal sumilip don si mom.

"Shaun. Halika na at kakain na tayo anak." Tawag niya sakin.

"Opo ma." Tapos umalis na rin si mama.

Sighhhh...

Tumayo na ko at bumaba na papuntang kusina. Hindi na rin ako nakapagbihis dahil sa dami ng iniisip ko.

Nagsimula na kaming kumain ng walang umiimik at tanging ang pagtama lang ng kutsara at tinidor ang naririnig.

Pero di nagtagal nagsimula na ring magsalita si dad.

"You will be meeting your fiancé in two weeks. Make sure to clear your schedule on that day." Sabi niya habang nakatingin lang sa pagkain.

"Dad. How many times do I have to tell you. I am not going to marry anyone." Sabi ko habang tuloy lang na kumakain.

Napatigil na man si dad at galit na napatingin sakin.

"So when are you getting married?! When your mother and I are laying at our graves?!"

Napatigil ako sa pagkain at napatingin rin kay dad.

"Dad. I still love Hailey. She is the only woman in my heart. I love her and I will always love her and if you can't accept that, then might as well not accept me." I stood up, took my stuff and stormed out of the house. I have to get out of here. It's getting hard to breath.

Narinig ko pang tinatawag ako ni mom, pero binalewala ko nalang at diretso lang naglakad papunta sa sasakyan ko.

I just drove through the city until something caught my attention. It was a four story building that is somewhat abandoned.

But it wasn't always like this. Nine years ago, this place was one of the most popular food chains in the city. I remember how Hailey and I used to go to place during college. She loved their pancakes every morning.

I parked the car and got out. It seems like no one comes here anymore. Nakasara ang lahat ng pintuan at bintana. I wish I could come insi--

I think there's a way...

Umakyat ako sa rooftop gamit ang fire exit. Buti nalang at medyo pa ito matibay kahit na ilang taon na itong nakasara.

Pagkaakyat na pagkaakyat mo matatanaw mo talaga yong ganda ng syodad sa gabi. It's filled with lights and it's beautiful. I wish she was here to see this.

Nagsimula na kong maglakad habang tinitignan ang paligid. Mukhang wala namang tao dito.

Tapos naalala ko nanaman si Hailey. She never left my mind. She's like a dream that made me the happiest man alive but like every dream, it ended...

Hindi ko mapigilang hindi tumulo ang luha ko ng maalala ko ang mga ngiti niya. Ang tawa niya. Ang boses niya. How I wish I could go back to that dream and be with her again.

Today is actually her death anniversary. It is exactly five years since she left and to me it feels just like yesterday. The pain never left my heart.

I guess this could be the night...

A stood at the edge of the building, getting ready to fall...

Finally, makakasama na kita Hailey...

Hindi ko matupad ang hiling mo sakin...

I guess, this is the end...

I closed my eyes when suddenly...

"Hoy gago!!! Anong ginagawa mo!!?"

Just when I thought that I was dead, I felt pain in my back causing from the fall and as I opened my eyes I saw a girl...

She looked at me with eyes that could melt anyone.

And suddenly...

She slapped my face?!
