A young teen carefully packed his bag. He didn't show it, but he was extremely nervous. He had jet-black hair that was spiked backward, he stood at five feet two inches, his skin was extremely pale, and he had the reddest eyes anyone had ever seen. It was almost unnatural, how red his irises were. His name is Fumikage Tokoyami. And after years of being home schooled, he was transferring to a public high school.
He finished packing his bag and he slung it over his shoulder. He went to the doorway where his mom was waiting.
Iguru Tokoyami was a woman who stood five feet six inches who had white hair with brown streaks. Her eyes were a golden color. "Have a good first day of school, honey," she said, pulling him into a hug.
Fumikage hugged back. "I will," he said.
"You better not fuck this up, you little shit!" a voice shouted from the living room. His father, Moju Tokoyami. Probably drunk. Again.
Fumikage just shrugged it off and walked out the door. He grabbed his bike and took off.
As he rode down the road, he saw a group of three kids walking together on the sidewalk across the street.
The one walking closest to the road stood at five feet three inches. She had black hair that went down to her collarbone and blue eyes.
The one in the middle was a girl that was four feet eleven inches tall. She had long pink hair, glasses, and eyes that matched her hair.
The one furthest from the street and closer to the buildings was a boy that was five feet five inches tall. He had messy green hair and big bright green eyes.
But what caught Fumikage's attention was that they were all wearing the same uniform he was wearing. A gray suit top, a red tie, green pants for the guys and a green skirt for the girls, and shoes and socks of choice.
He's never been good at socializing. In fact, growing up, he never had any friends. He almost never left the house. Perhaps this was a chance to change that.
He made his way across the street and slowed down so that he was going the same pace they were.
"Excuse me. Are you guys going to UA, too?"
"Yes, we are," said the black haired girl. "They're pretty much leading me. I don't know where I'm going," she added with a sheepish chuckle.
"I honestly don't know where I'm going, either. Is it okay if I walk with you?"
"Sure!" said the greenette. "Oh! Introductions! I'm Izuku Midoriya. Friends call me Deku."
The pinkette spoke up next. "I'm Kyatto Sanda, but everyone just calls me Kat."
"And I'm Okami Tsuki. I know it's a custom for people to be called by their last name, but I prefer my first name. Unless it's someone I don't like. But you seem cool."
"I'm Fumikage Tokoyami," Fumikage said. He hopped off his bike and joined them on the sidewalk, walking his bike.
"So, Tokoyami, you don't know where UA is?" Deku asked.
"No. I just know it's the most famous high school in all of Japan. I don't know where it is or what it looks like. I've never really gotten out of the house much. I grew up being homeschooled."
"Oh, okay," Deku said.
"I can relate. I used to live in America. I moved here this summer. Kat and Deku were the first ones I met and they kind of guide me. I never got out of the house much back in America, but I hope that can change here," Okami explained.
"I see," Fumikage said.
They continued walking for a while, talking to each other and getting to know each other more. He learned how Kat and Deku grew up together and are currently dating. There was a third friend of theirs, but he grew apart from Deku and even bullied him in middle school. Luckily, Kat was always there to break up any fights.
The subject soon turned to interests.
Deku excitedly rambled about the police forces. He wants to be a cop when he graduates and fight crime. He especially wanted to be like the chief of the police, Toshinori Yagi, who always fought with a big smile on his face to assure the other civilians that everything was going to be okay.
Kat explained how she was a fan of K-Pop and watched a ton of anime. Her favorite K-Pop group was BTS. Her favorite anime is Fairy Tail. There is a character in it named Wendy that she admired. She also enjoys drawing.
Okami talked about how she is a mega horror fan, particularly finding the American slasher films from the 70s 80s and 90s the most interesting. While she much enjoyed watching death and gore, she also likes watching heartwarming Disney and Pixar films.
"What about you, Tokoyami?" Deku asked.
"I dunno. There really isn't much to say about me."
"Oh, come on. There's gotta be something you like," Okami said.
"Well ... there's this American band. Okami's probably heard of them. My Chemical Romance?"
"Oooh, they're really good!"
"Yeah. I really just listen to their music to pass the time," Fumikage said. "Um ... another thing is that I really only have one friend. His name is Dark Shadow. And ... uh ... he's a crow."
"Really? You have a pet?" Okami asked, sounding intrigued.
"Not exactly. He just visits my window once or twice a day. My mom knows, but my dad doesn't. He ... isn't a huge fan ... of pets," Fumikage explained. "But Dark Shadow was outside my window one day, his wing badly cut. I healed him back to health. He's visited me every day since. I feed him some seeds. I've also given him apples. He really likes those. Can't say I blame him. They're my favorite, too. And I don't really have anyone to talk to, so I just tell him everything. It's not like he'll give away my secrets."
"That's really cool!" Okami said.
"If you say so."
As if on cue a giant black crow swooped down towards them. Fumikage held out an arm and the crow perched itself on his arm. "It's as though you knew I was talking about you, Dark Shadow." Dark Shadow nipped Fumikage ear affectionately in return.
The others stared in awe.
"You guys can pet him if you want."
The three of them hesitantly reached out and then gently stroked Dark Shadow's feathers. They were really soft. Dark Shadow cooed, enjoying the affection.
After a bit, Dark Shadow spread his wings and took off. And just in time, too.
The group had arrived at UA.
