"This is a fucking bad idea Genesis." Blake
moans as she grips the wheel tighter, looking out cautiously. We were currently in the parking lot of the beach front where the bone fire was allegedly suppose be held. The beach was covered with teenagers left to right. Everyone seem to be galavanting about the large area. There seemed to be an intense game of volleyball going on, a group of teens gathered around shouting praises of excitement when a team scored. While others stayed in the water soaking up the evening sun. Then you had your sunbathers who still lay faced down on towels probably weak from the vitamin D their body had taken up.
The bonfire was at the far right, I could see the glow of the fire gleaming above the coconut trees just ahead and I knew that was our destination.
"What if he isn't here?" Blake questions, reluctant to get out the car, trying to make an excuse to leave.
"Oh he definitely is." Jenna replied, then turning to me. "Are you sure you want to do this?"
I nodded. "Yeah, I think I am."
Truth is I didn't know if I was ready I just knew I was tired of being in the dark and wanted to make sense of what happen to me.
"Okay guys lets go." Jenna prompted.
"Your parents are going to murder me." Blake moans as she reluctantly stepped out of the Jeep.
I followed pursuit.
"Don't worry, I'll just say I made you." I smiled.
Blake scowled playfully.
The sound of music blared from the distance, the fast beat moved along with the teenagers grinding. There were shouts of excitement where a group of guys chugged down bottles of alcohol, in an attempt to see who consumes the most. Chug! Chug! Chug! Chug! They chanted in unison edging the competitors on, along with a group of girls flirtatiously, modeling their bikini clad body in front of them. It was kind of pathetic really. Then there was the teenagers who just sat idly around the bone fire talking amongst themselves.
"Here you have it-" Blake said sarcastically gesturing towards the crowd. "-supposedly the best summer opening party."
"Cheer up Blakely." Jenna mused. " Lets have some fun while we're at it."
The crowd was a lot to take in but it wasn't going to stop me from doing what I have to.
"Do you guys see Tobi?" I asked trying to stay on the problem at hand. The quicker I find him the better.
"Let's find out." Blake beckons for us to follow her lead.
As we approach closer, the noise began to die down. There was a lot of glances and whispers and I almost wanted to crawl into a hole. Some tried to not make it noticeable while the others blatantly watched me as I approached, almost anticipating my next move.
"Gene are you okay?" Blake slowed down so she walked in step with me. "If it's too much we can go back."
"I'm okay." I assured her. The stares didn't bother me because I didn't remember any of them, I was just as confused as they were.
Jenna gave me a reassuring smile as she took my hands in hers. "Don't worry."
We walked through the crowd ignoring the curious eyes and I tried to shut out the annoying chatter.
