It's been a week and I think I was going crazy.

Scratch that!

I was going utterly insane.

My parents was driving me insane.

No one was allowed to see me. They never left me alone for more than 10 minutes. My mom came in to check on me every minute, whether it was to see how I was doing or to take out my laundry for the umpteenth time.

My dad however took it upon himself to install a television into my room seeing that they took away my laptop and cell phone. All in the name of me taking it slowly.

"How was your day Gen?" My dad asked as he handed me the bowl of potatoes salad.

It was Friday night and we were having dinner together for the first time since I got back. My meals were brought to my room for the past week while I was bed rested.

"Nothing new dad." I replied as I took a serving of potato salad although I had no room for an appetite. "I'm in my room all day so there's nothing much to really do." I mumbled.

Dad nodded, clearly ignoring the irritation in my voice."Understandable, things will get easier."

They didn't understand my frustration neither were they saying anything about the accident and what exactly happened. There's only so much I could have  gotten out of the family albums. Without having my phone or laptop I wasn't able to find anything about myself and it was frustrating.

"Is it okay if I maybe go out a bit sometimes."

Mom froze for a second, then automatically sitting up straighter.

Dad looked up from his dinner taken aback by my question.

"Oh, honey I don't think your ready, the whole town knows what hap-"

I cut him off frustrated.

"-would I ever be ready if you just keep me in the house?" I argued. " You keep saying to take my time but I think I'm ready, dad."

Mom looked away, rolling the green beans around on her plate, clearly not wanting the heat.

"Honey-" Her voice tried to ease me.

"It's just like you said-" I pushed. " I  need to get use to familiar surroundings in order to remember. I can't do that if I'm just stuck here all day."

The table was quiet for a few minutes until Mom spoke again.

"Maybe you can hang out with Jenna and Blake." Mom suggest softly, turning to my dad expectant, as if wanting him to agree.

Dad clenched his jaw clearly irritated with the suggestion.

"Jenna and Blake?" I asked.

Mom smiled sadly turning to me. "Honey, they're your best friends, you three are always together. Maybe they can jog your memory."

"Oh." I mumbled quietly. They're names didn't ring a bell but the idea was appealing.

"I can invite them over tomorrow if you like." Mom suggested. " I think it should help."

This time she didn't look at dad, I'm guessing his silence was his way of actually agreeing in his own special way.

"Thanks mom."

This was a start and I was okay with that. Learning a bit about my friends was going to be enough to know the type of person I was.

"Well was there anyone else close to me, I should know about?"I asked, completely uninterested in my dinner.

If I wanted to flow back into my everyday life I would at least want to do it with the people I'm close with.
