"Minho!" I called to my best friend while cupping my hands over my mouth. I had a huge smile on my face, running down multiple turns and twists.
"Avery!" Minho called back, worry laced in his voice. He sounded tired.
"Meet up! I'm nearby!" I shouted with a laugh, brown locks trailing behind me.
"Got it, Aves!" Minho shouted, calling me by my nickname instead of Avery. I heard his steps nearby, and was sprinting forward until something pounced on my back.
I smirked and threw it off of me with a lot of force. The monstrous creature flung back at me. I laughed loudly and stepped to the side, the creature missing me by only centimeters.
"Aves!" My best friend called, clearly out of breath and worry still heavily laced in his tone.
"Just a second, lemme have my damn fun!" I called out while dodging the beast and taunting it even more. It lunged at me one more time, and I swung at it with a stick, one that simulates a baseball bat. The creature, what we call Grievers, swung and hit the nearby wall of leaves, then scurrying away.
"Hurry, Avery, get to the Door!" Minho called. I smiled and dashed around corners, eventually meeting up with my Asian friend. We both dashed towards the door, just as I heard another Griever nearby.
I looked back at the door and saw that a Griever was hiding in the shadows. I turned around and saw that Minho had collapsed, but you could see that he was blinking if you looked closely enough, he wasn't unconscious.
"Alby! Newt! Someone help!" I heard someone call.
"Jeez, calm your lug. He's still alive,," I said while walking over and moving Minho's hair out of his face while he cooled off. Alby walked over and rolled his eyes.
"Anything?" He asked.
"C'mon, shank. I'm dying of thirst over here!" Minho wheezed. Alby kicked his leg a little playfully, something that he got from me awhile back. I used to kick his leg playfully, so he would do it back.
"Seriously, Minho." Alby replied while I used my shirt sleeve to wipe some of my sweat off of my forehead, and Minho too, due to how he was too lazy and tired to do it himself.
"Just get me some water, ya shank." Alby rolled his eyes and ran off to get water from Frypan. The guy was still crouching next to Minho, but he was looking straight at me. My vision went blurry once I looked into his eyes. My head hurt.
I started staggering and holding my head, trying to shake away the fuzziness in my eyes. This guy looked way to familiar. Then it rang in my head. Thomas?
"Avery!" Minho shouted as all his fatigue seemed to vanish, he lunged forward and stopped me from falling and smacking my head to the floor.
"Thomas!" I yelled as I pointed at the guy, he stared wide eyed back.
"You... You know him?" Minho asked as he helped me to my feet, making sure I didn't stagger. I slowly made my way to Thomas, looking him up and down. Too familiar, I knew him from somewhere.
"Who. Are. You?" Thomas asked while I stopped right in from of him.
"You don't remember me? Thomas, I don't know how, but I recognize you. Its too illogical for me to understand."
"W-What?" Thomas looked over at Minho, who was smiling and shaking his head in bewilderment.
I flashed my teeth in response, he jumped back when he saw my smile. I got that a lot, I had these vampiric fangs after all.
"Calm down, Greenie. She does this to everyone she meets. Only... You, she reacted a little more with recognition than any of us. Don't worry about the fangs, she won't bite unless provoked," Minho answered while I was circling Thomas.
