~~Sixteen years earlier~~

Mom: "Oh, good Emmy, you're home."

Her name was EmmaGrace, but no one has ever called her that. Well, almost no one.

Emmy/EmmaGrace: "Hi, Mom."

Emmy heads to her room, puts her backpack down, changes into comfy clothes, and heads back downstairs. Her mom owns a daycare attached to their home. Every day Emmy comes home and helps her mom. The daycare has open since before Emmy was born. She didn't know anything else; this was her life. Her dad was a lawyer, so he worked late nights. Emmy's parents were happy. Their marriage was extremely happy. The only negative was Emmy was an only child. They tried it just didn't work out.

Emmy heads back downstairs to get her assignments for the day. Today was Friday so, she didn't have homework to complete first.

Emmy/EmmaGrace: "What do I need to do today, Mom?"

Mom: "It's time to take the children out to play. Chelsea and Celeste will get their snacks today. You and I will take them out to play. I need to talk to you anyway."

Emmy loved kids. Throughout the years they all had become her siblings. Her mom had strict rules but even her mom broke them sometimes. One of the policies was no babies under six weeks. However, her mom made an exception when it came to Andrew. He was two years old now. He had come in early. Her mom had gotten him at three days old. His mother had died from a rare infection after giving birth to him. Andrew's dad was a client of Emmy's dad. Her mom agreed to take Andrew early.

Emmy walked out of the kitchen and into the attached playroom.

Emmy/EmmaGrace: "Hey, Chelsea, help me gather the kids and get them ready to go outside."

Just about then, Andrew came barreling through the door, screaming Emmy's name. He wraps his arms around her legs in a hug.

Andrew: "Emmy!"

Emmy adored Andrew and he loved her.

Emmy/EmmaGrace: "Hey, Little Dude. I missed you while I was at school. Have you been a good boy?"

Andrew bobs his head up and down.

Emmy/EmmaGrace: "Good. Go get your coat; we're going to go play."

Emmy and Chelsea gathered all the kids; they put their coats on and some needed shoes.,They lined them up and headed outside; her mom was waiting for them out there.

Mom: "Ok little ones of,f you go. Have fun. Remember no, fighting and be careful."

Emmy and her mom make their way to the bench. It was placed in a spot that let them see the whole yard.

Emmy/EmmaGrace: "What did you need to talk to me about?"

Mom: "Oh, yes. I hope you didn't have plans this weekend."
