The girl of the sunsets

We go to the kitchen and luckily there's no one. Then I see a piece of paper with something written on it. "We're at the mall"

"Maddie your parents aren't home. They're at the mall" I tell her while she makes coffee.

"Better, the coffee will help me"

"Yeah definitely" I say.

I don't know how but she manages to make coffee and then we eat some muffins. After eating she says that she feels better, so we go back to her bedroom.

I see that today's a sunny day, so I decide to sunbathe a little bit.

"Maddie it's sunny outside. Can I go to the terrace and sunbathe?" I ask her, even though she's going to tell me that of course I can.

"Yes, this is your house too" she says, and then she checks her phone.

I grab my bag, put on a bikini and open the door to go to the terrace. You can go to the terrace from the hallway upstairs because her house has two floors. Apart from this she also has a backyard. She lives in Brooklyn, but has a huge house.

My house isn't small, but definitely isn't this big. When I was 12 we moved to this house, because we lived in an apartment, but it was a little bit small so we moved to this house which has got a backyard and much more space than the other one.

I put my towel in the floor and I lay down on it. Then I remember that I've forgotten to put on suncream, and I'm kinda white, so I go back to Maddie's bedroom and put on the suncream.

"I'm going with you, but I'm not going to sunbathe" she says.

"Okay"

We go back to the terrace and I almost fall asleep. When I open my eyes again, I see that Maddie isn't here, so she must be in her bedroom.

I check my phone and it's 12:30. I should start going.

"Why did you go?" I ask her.

"I was going to get burned"

"I'm going to go, mom told me to go home before lunch" I say, and change to my normal clothes.

"Alright. I hope you had a great time, Em. Next time it'll be better" she says smiling.

"Oh I'm not sure i'll go to another one" I say, but deep down I know I'll be forced to go.

"We'll see that" she says, and then she hugs me. We walk to the front door and I go.

As soon as I get out of her house, I see Maddie's family approaching the house.

"Hey Emery. How are you, dear?" asks her mom.

"Hi, I'm very good. What about you all?" I ask them.

"We're alright. You know you can come again whenever you want" says her dad.

"Yes, thank you" I say smiling.

"Oh and Emery, tell your mom to call me when she's free, please" says.

"Sure, Alyssa. Thank you for letting me stay"

"Our pleasure, Emery. Tell your parents and brother hi" says, and then I head to my house.

I open the door and my mom hugs me.

"Hey Em, how is everything?" she asks.

"Good mom. Alyssa has told me to tell you that she wants you to call her when you're free" I say.

"Okay"

I go to my room and leave my bag. Then I go to my brother's bedroom.

"Hey Auden, how are you?" I say, and then I go and hug him.
