being a stark is not easy.

take your dad for example; sleepless nights, daddy issues, struggles with ptsd, struggles to juggle time with pepper and his daughter.

and panic attacks.

but they seem to have been passed down to his daughter, y/n.

today, school was tough. flash gave you a hard time being the teasing bastard he is. "hey, y/n. how's daddy?"

you failed a couple of tests, knowing your dad would question you about it. he was laidback sure, but he still would like you to do well.

happy picked you up, a bright smile on his face as you slid into the back seat. "hey kiddo. how was school?"

"i don't wanna talk about it" you huffed, folding your arms and shoving on your headphones. you didn't mean to hurt happy, he was pretty much an uncle. but today just wasn't going great.

he nodded and reluctantly drove off. the traffic was bad as happy took the wrong road, making you even more agitated and restless. the journey lasted forever as honkings of cars were louder than your music.

when you finally got back to the avengers building, you hastily walked down the hallway and into the kitchen. as suspected, your dad and his new intern, peter, were talking.

you hadn't truly met peter. you knew he was your age and went to your school. in fact, he was teased by flash more than you. yet, you never bothered to talk to him because of the slight jealousy that lay in your stomach.

your dad wanted him to intern instead of you. even after all your hard work that you did after school everyday, he chose a random high schooler.

"hey, y/n" your dad greeted, placing his mug of decaf coffee on the kitchen island. "you know peter" he gestured towards the nervous teenager, who fiddled with his sleeves.

you nodded, pressing your mouth into a tight line, not making eye contact as you dug around in your backpack.

"of course! how was the test?" your dad exclaimed, leaning back on the island.

"bad" you bluntly spoke. peter slightly winced at your harsh tone, but you ignored him and slammed the paper on the table. "here."

"you wanna talk about it?"

"no."

tony gathered the papers in his hands and furrowed his brows. "well, pete could help. you aced this test, didn't you, kid?"

peter nodded cautiously. he could sense you weren't wild about him, feeling somewhat replaced. he tried to be careful around you and not push any buttons because deep down inside, he wanted to be your friend.

he loved the work you put into his suit, even if you didn't know it was for him. he admired your intelligence, but knew you struggled to focus in class, like there was a loudness in your head.

you could say, he'd developed a smidge of a crush.

"well isn't that great, dad?" you gritted your teeth and put your backpack strap onto your shoulder. "well done, pete" you said ever so drily.
